Under new coach Ian Gillan, the side has bought a number of new faces to its squad where they will once again be playing at the luxurious CUA Stadium in Penrith.
New names such as Mark Bariamis, David Comito, Nikolas Jelic, Andrew Lazarou and ex-Macarthur Rams players David Gardiner, Steve Baveas, Paul Crisp are just some of the player that have been snapped up by the Scotsman.
Former Wollongong FC striker Mitchell Long has returned to the club after a one-year absence while ex-Marconi Stallions youth star Ben Gough has also agreed to terms with the side.
In what will be a second in the history of the TeleChoice Premier League, a father and son combination will be evident as veteran defender Evangelos Petratos now 40 years old will be linking up with his 16-year-old son Dimitrios, a star in the making, in taking part in the 2009 TeleChoice Premier League.
Dimitrios only recently came back to Sydney after spending a couple of weeks with A-League side Perth Glory where he took part in training sessions and practice matches.
Glory scouts have stated that they will be keeping a watchful eye on Penrith Nepean United’s promising young gun.
Familiar faces such as goalkeeper Daniel Schwarzer, who is of course the younger brother of Socceroos and Fulham number one Mark, long serving midfielder Javier Mancino and Tayfun Buyukkopru are hoping that they will go better than their eleventh placed finish in 2008.
The squad have already been busily preparing for 2009 with a series of friendly matches but the club?s major focus is their round one clash against the Marconi Stallions at Marconi Stadium.
With the club heading in a new direction with businessman and former world karate champion Joe Meissner at the helm, a number of positive initiatives have already been noted down in Penrith Nepean United?s push for a successful season and beyond.
