The club moved swiftly in recruiting the services of a familiar star player who graced the football pitches of Sydney United Sports Centre some years back in the form of striker Ante Milicic.
The former Socceroos international has once again called Sydney United home and will be player/manager for 2009.
Milicic has been busy preparing his squad for the new year and has recruited a couple of players in helping him realise that dream of playing finals football and possibly taking out the TeleChoice Premier League Premiership.
United will have a mouth-watering strike force as Milicic will be playing alongside prolific goalscorer Luka Glavas.
Former Croatian International Davor Bajsic has signed with the Reds and the 35-year-old will certainly add some steel into United?s attack.
The club also moved quickly to recruit midfield whiz Glen Trifiro who played with the Central Coast Mariners Under 20?s side and played for both the Marconi Stallions and went on loan to the Macarthur Rams last season.
Roger Galayini has also been snapped up by United after he spent last season playing with Sydney Olympic while Italian born goalkeeper Kevin Strukelj has also been signed by the club.
Talented young shotstopper Vedran Janjetovic, who had a successful year with Sydney FC?s Under 20 side in the National Youth League, will once again don the red and white jersey while Milicic has offered last season?s Under 20 Player of the Year Daniel Rezo a first grade contract as well as Mitchell Speer from United?s Under 20 side.
The club has managed to re-sign Ricky Perinich, Milan Bosnar, Ivo Bosnar, Damon Collina, Joe Vrkic, Mark Robertson, Todd Brodie and Petar Markovic amongst a few others from 2008.
