The Football NSW CEO took out the Administrator of the Year Award in 2006 and was once again given the plaudits in 2008 after a lavish function on Thursday 26th February in front of a packed Waterview Convention Centre at Sydney Olympic Park.
Quarmby had a very successful 2008, leading Football NSW into a fresh new direction.
Under Quarmby, Football NSW has announced a new $40 million ?state of the art? Football complex at Riverstone.
Quarmby also oversaw major sponsorship initiatives designed to benefit clubs and associations and announced the provision of $250,000 worth of credit vouchers that were allocated to Associations and State League Clubs across the state.
A humble Quarmby was elated upon receiving the NSW Administrator of the Year award for the second time in three years and praised the efforts of the entire Football NSW staff.
?While I was the one accepting the award on the evening, it was not possible without a dedicated team that truly goes above and beyond what is needed.
?That is because they hold the sport in high regard.
?We are proud of our achievements and some major initiatives for our members; i.e. grants to clubs for their football needs and a free online internet coaching service for every club as well as our ground breaking Football Stars of Tomorrow show televised nationally.
?It is our long term business plan with the purchase of an investment building in the Norwest Business sector of Baulkham Hills and the development of a state of the art sporting facility in Riverstone that will help provide better funding and services for the future of the game.?
The Football NSW CEO was also full of praise of the organisation?s successful television program ?Football Stars of Tomorrow? which picked up the 2008 Media Award at the NSW Sports Federation Annual Sports Awards.
Growing from strength to strength, 2009 promises to be a another ground breaking year for Football Stars of Tomorrow with Football NSW envisioning the program airing on commercial TV.
Apart from the new initiatives, Quarmby also documented Football NSW?s push for promoting the special needs program.
?An exciting new improved program for this year will be the support we will give to those football players with special needs.
?Currently we are working with Deaf Football Australia and Cerebral Palsy Football and our various special needs groups. Our program is called ?Football 4 All? which will culminate in the holding of a gala day mid- season for all special needs players.?
However, Quarmby acknowledges that the road is still long in getting everything as perfect as possible in the promotion of the round ball game.
?There are still many challenges ahead in the fields of Futsal, retention, recruitment & development of referees, ground development and increased funding in support to grassroots.
?We have strategies in place although the fruits of these strategies will be seen over the next five-years,? Quarmby concluded.
