Steve Hayes off to Singapore for trials as McMaster signs with Wollongong CFC
Club Captain Steve Hayes, who has been the Club?s standout performer this season has been offered trials overseas and will be departing immediately, with the Club?s blessing, to pursue his dream of full time professional football.
Steve has already had trials with Sydney FC this season, as have a number of WCFC players.
Steve will be away for about two weeks and we wish him every success in his endeavours.
Commenting on the situation Steve Hayes said,
?I think what the club is doing to promote player development is excellent.?
?Being able to take opportunities like this one is very important for players.?
?It is unfortunate timing but it could not be avoided.?
?I would like to thank the club and all the boys for their support and wish them all the best while I?m away ? with a bit of luck they will have won some much needed points for us by the time I return.?
In the meantime the club can report that we sought a quality player to cover Steve?s absence and have been able to agree terms with Jamie McMaster, the former Leeds United and Central Coast Mariners midfielder for the remainder of the season.
