Rockdale City Suns celebrate 40 years of football

Among the guests were former players from the original 1969 team, members and sponsors, local politicians, such as Frank Sartor, Mayor Bill Saravinovski, Counsellor Shaoquett Moselman, Consulate from Macedonia Dragan Petrovski and entertainment from overseas.
The night began on an encouraging note, with President Zak Agioski?s speech.
He acknowledged the work of previous committee members, club founders, sponsors and the supportive community of Rockdale City Suns, which has helped the club to achieve the success that it stands upon today.
?Things are looking positive for Rockdale?s future, with lots to look forward to, including the new facilities at Bicentennial Park,? Agioski stated.
Many individuals where honoured at the 40th anniversary celebration for their contribution to building the sturdy foundations of the club from which it would grow.
Former coach Nikola Nikolovski was acknowledged for his work with the original 1969 team, Premiership winning coaches were awarded including Ilija Takac (1984) and Mile Todorovski (2002), as well as Coaching Director Bill Pilovski and one of Rockdale?s favourite Suns Zlatko Nastovski.
Major sponsors Ribarovski Catering Equipment and Marco Polo Foods were also recognized for their support and a special gratitude went out to the clubs Child Protection Officer and Solicitor Dennis Loether.
Agioski stated his delight with Rockdale?s major sponsors who have supported them through the hard times of late.

?Despite the hardship that the economy is currently faced with, it is enlightening to see the generous contributions that Rockdale?s major sponsors have offered this wonderful club.
 ?A fine example of their generosity was seen at Rockdale?s 40th Anniversary celebration which featured a lavish raffle. 1st prize was a brilliant cut diamond ring valued at $17,000, proudly donated by Rockdale?s major sponsors Gregory Jewellers. 2nd prize was two return tickets to Europe, proudly donated by George Nik and Associates. 3rd prize was a 42-inch LG Plasma, proudly donated by CBA Mortgage Innovation Bexley,? Agioski stated.
All funds raised at this enjoyable celebration, including the major raffle will help to finance the lighting, which will feature at the new ground, Bicentennial Park.
