Bankstown City Lions secure Peter Tsekenis for a further two seasons

The former Australian youth international along with assistant coach Peter Papoythis and Under 20?s coach Franco Cosentino all agreed to a two-year deal, with Bankstown City Lions President Alex Subevski happy with the outcome.
?Both Tseka and Peter have given a lot to this club in the last five seasons.
?It is about stability and I wanted to make sure that we had the right coaching management again in pushing our team the right direction.
?Tseka knows the league and the boys inside out and I know he will do a good job for us along with his coaching staff.?
Tsekenis was equally delighted to have assured his future in football for the next two seasons.
?I was quite happy with the outcome as I have enjoyed my last five years with the club.
?I have been happy with the players, management also the facilities at the club too so there was no reason for me to look elsewhere and I am really looking forward to the challenge in 2010 and beyond.?
The tough tackling defender stated that he will not be hanging up the boots just yet.
?At this point in time I will be putting on the boots on for 2010 but again it is how the body will be but I will do what it takes to get there and be fit once more.?
Regarding the 2009 season, Bankstown City Lions? finals series hopes were cut short after they were defeated 4-2 on penalties in the Elimination Semi-Final against Manly United at Jensen Park.
?Going out on penalties is always a tough pill to swallow but that?s football.
?I believe we had a solid season but I know that we could have gone that one step further.
?I will certainly be looking at strengthening the side in certain areas but we are looking at keeping the majority of the boys. Some players have already signed two-year deals so we?ll see where we can go from there.
?I will be looking into the market for players but again only in areas we need tightening up.?
The 36-year-old will be taking a well earned break from football as he embarks on a five-week trip to Greece in September with the family before returning for the new season ahead.
