Knox Grammar School take out All Schools Cup

This game had all the hallmarks of a classic match.  
The highly credentialed Highs Sports High versus the up and coming Knox Grammar School team who had defied the odds to reach the final.
 
A beautiful balmy evening and an impressive crowd set the scene for a game that started at a frantic pace with some excellent football from both sides.
 Knox had a golden opportunity to go one up when Jay Stewart was brought down in the box, but the penalty struck the top corner of the goal posts and it was play on.  It was then Hills? turn to pile on the pressure and a great corner was headed toward the top corner by a Hills attacker.
 Knox keeper James Irwin made a great save, flicking the ball over the cross bar to keep the sheet clean.  Moments later a 50-50 ball saw James upended landing heavily on his head which later saw him leave the field of play with a minor concussion.  
The half time whistle blew with no score and both sides welcoming the interval.
 
In the second half, Hills came out firing and a free kick for Hills from outside the box weaved its way untouched to the net and Hills were jubilant to go ahead 1-0.  
But as they had done some many times in this competition, Knox lifted and continued to fight on.  
A great corner for Knox was somehow kept out of the goal, but not for long as Callum Hinwood waiting on the edge of the box calmly chipped the ball over the melee to find the back of the net.  
The equaliser came with just 10 minutes to go. Regular time ran out, and the 20 minutes of extra time left the score locked at 1-1 and so the game would be decided by a penalty shootout.
 
Knox took the first penalty and Jack Basley opened the scoring with a clean strike to the bottom left hand corner.  
Up stepped the Knox reserve keeper Alex Buddle and he made a terrific save diving to his right.  The next Knox player was Jay Stewart and he calmly placed the shot into the net.  
Back to Hills and Knox keeper Alex made another great save.  Alex Denning put his penalty away, and Buddle got both hands to the next Hills strike but could not quite save the goal, so it is 3-1 to Knox.
 Rob Spence takes a good penalty, but the Hills keeper at full stretch to his left saves the goal.  The next Hills player scored his penalty and the pressure went back onto Knox.  
Tom McCullagh stepped up to convert to win the game.  
He scored and Knox created history by being the first independent school to win the All Schools Cup.
