This win ensured that Australia will finish in the top 8 at the tournament and therefore have earned a spot at the 2011 World Championships where they can qualify for the London Paralympics.
In the third minute of the game an excellent free kick was taken by Sam Larkings approximately 30 metres from goal to beat the keeper in the far corner of the net.  This early goal was the perfect start for the Australians and were unlucky not to go ahead by another goal in the 9th minute of the game after a brilliant shot by Brett Fairhall, only to be brilliantly saved by the Japanese goalkeeper.
In the 22nd minute a quick break from the Australian team saw Tom Goodman put Jamie Laybutt into the clear who produced a clinical finish to give Australia a 2-Nil lead.
Two minutes Jamie Laybutt returned the favour and with an excellent finish from Tom Goodman made the score 3-Nil.  Just before half time after some excellent build up work saw Jarrod Law (16 years of age) in a gap and slotted the ball past the Japanese keeper to make the score 4-Nil.

The Australians continued to attack the Japanese defence and were unlucky not to score again just after the restart.
In the 39th minute Jamie Laybutt was replaced by Daniel Berry for his first international cap and made an immediate impact on the game with his runs.
44th minute of the game saw Jarrod Law being replaced by Patrick Grant.
53rd minute saw Ben Atkins being replaced by another 16 year old in Ned McCabe.
Australia continued to press hard against a determined Japanese defence.  Australia finally broke down this defence in the 58th minute with a superb strike by Tom Goodman from 15 metres out to make the score 5-0, which was the final score.
After the match Paul Brown ? Head Coach ? ?praised his young guns as they had proved themselves with a convincing technical display over the Japanese team.?  ?These young Australians did their country proud by earning a spot at the 2011 World Championships.?
All of the rookies on this tour (Aidan Bennison, Jarrod Law, Ned McCabe and Daniel Berry) have all stepped up to the challenge of international football.
