Sydney United to tackle Melbourne Knights in Friendly
Kicking off at 7.30pm, the match has been labelled ?The Friendship Cup? as both clubs prepare for their respective competitions.
The Knights will be hoping that 2010 brings them more better fortune as they finished up in ninth position in the Victorian Premier League in 2009 but with Ivan Duzel running the show, a lot is expected from the Melbourne based side.
The team has been training for last two weeks now with the likes of former Duisburg midfielder Ivica Praiz, Canadian striker Tommy Ples just some of the players that have penned deals with the club.
The likes of players such as Liam Cannell and Daniel Rocco will also feature in the squad as Duzel prepares for the new year.
For the Reds 2010 brings a new era for the club as new Player/Manager David Zdrilic has been running the gauntlet on pre-season with his squad having taken over the reins of former coach Ante Milicic.
Former APIA Leichhardt Tigers player Shane Lyons, ex-Sydney Olympic captain Peter Zorbas, former Sydney Olympic defender Michael Cindric and ex-Marconi Stallions youngster Sean Mitchell have all joined the Reds for the new season.
The likes of players such as Ivo Bosnar, Mitchell Thompson, Vedran Janjetovic, Elsid Barkhousir, Ricky Perinich, Roger Galayini, Peter Markovic, Luka Glavas, Todd Brodie and Daniel Rezo have all agreed to new deals with United for 2010.
The day will be one not to be missed as jumping castles for the kids will be present as well as meeting the new faces of the Sydney United squad, also half-time entertainment will be on show with fantastic raffle and prizes and supporter gear set to be won as well.
The club house will also be a major attraction on the evening as former legends and greats from United will also feature.
