Beating the likes of highly credible organistaions such as Gymnastics NSW, Surf Life Saving NSW, Sailability NSW and Riding for the Disable Association, it was a massive coup for the sport of football.
Football NSW President Jim Forrest was delighted upon receiving such an accolade for the sporting organisation.
?It is always a great honour to be recognised in this way by our peers.
?Three main contributing groups which goes hand in hand with all sports; one is our dedicated volunteer base which ranges between 25-30 thousand people. Second is our highly professional management team and thirdly our predecessors who put in place the development of a state headquarters which will fund the move to our $40 million development at Riverstone.
?The combination of these three areas is clearly what gave us this award,? Forrest ended.

Football NSW CEO Michael Quarmby was elated with the recognition given to the organisation by the NSW Sports Federation and credited the success of Football NSW to its staff.
?This achievement is a credit to the staff and volunteers of Football NSW; it?s these people that make this organisation the success it is today.
?Various initiatives implemented by staff across the organisation have not only lifted our profile commercially but throughout our membership and potential football players.?
It has been a busy 2009 for Football NSW with a number of initiatives directed by the organisation in aiding and assisting in the development of the sport in the state.
The highly influential program ?Project 22? was launched, an elite player development system aimed at producing future Socceroos and Matildas who will potentially compete at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Participation rates for the sport was again impressive as approximately 206,216 male and female players which also included juniors registered in the sport of football in NSW with a significant increase in female players.
Football NSW also hosted the inaugural ?Football4all? Gala Day giving children and young people with special needs an opportunity to enjoy a day of football.
Season 4 of Football Stars of Tomorrow debuted on Channel 9 and drew and audience of over 1.5 million viewers across 8 episodes. Coincidentally, Football Stars of Tomorrow picked up the 2009 NSW Sports Media award for the second year in a row.
