Campbelltown Quake win the 16 Boys Grand Final 2-0

The Quake got off to a great start when defender Daniel Nelson raced down the left side and with players getting into the box expecting a cross he chose to surprise all and slam a well directed shot inside the keepers post to give the Quake a valuable 1-0 lead.
This set the scene because once the Quake get in front they are a tough side to overhaul.
With the Quake leading, much of the pressure was coming from the Allstars as Jake Mason blasted a shot from the right side that forced a good save from Andrew Haim and a nice cross court move saw Clayton Musumeci fire the ball over.
The Allstars kept up the pressure and came close when Clayton Musumeci found David Nestorovic but Andrew Haim pulled off a fine save and Jake Mason hit a low hard shot that the keeper held at the second attempt and Haim did well again to block a close range shot from Chris Belaicha.
Teams can only keep up heavy pressure for so long especially in Futsal and late in the half the Quake twice went close when Nicholas Colantonio won a tussle for the ball and smashed a drive that keeper Mark Brackenrig did very well to turn away for a corner.
Daniel Rees also did well to head a ball on for Nathan Clissold but his effort went just wide.
In the second half Clayton Musumeci went on a fine run that Andrew Haim blocked and Bruno Pivato played in Musumeci again but the keeper made a great block to deny him.
The Allstars weren?t having it all their own way and Nicholas Colantonio fed the ball to Daniel Vellonio but keeper Mark Brackenrig came out and made a great block.
With 10 minutes to go the Quake went further ahead with a trademark Quake pass and move goal.
From a quick counter attack the ball was swept from one side of the court to the other in one touch passes as Jake McGing played in Nicholas Colantonio to sweep the ball into the net for one of the goals of the day to give the Quake a formidable 2-0 lead.
The Allstars tried hard to get back into the game but they were being rebuffed by some determined Quake defence who never let the Allstars settle into their attacking game the whole match.
This all led to more frustration for the Allstars who were losing their discipline and falling foul of the referees.
Jake McGing came very close to making it three when he held up the keeper and defenders but his effort struck the post then he hit the rebound just wide.
In the end the Quake did a great job of nullifying the Allstars attacking strengths and played some really smart grand final football to run out deserved winners 2-0.
