Last year?s NSW Premier League top goal scorer joined the Perth Glory for the first six rounds at the end of the 2009 season, and was happy with his progress at the A-League club.
“I loved it in Perth,?? Mayora said.
“Dave Mitchell is a great bloke and he gave me a few chances in the first team. I am grateful for that.
Following his stint in Perth, Mayora joined Indonesian side Persipura but didn?t have the best of times.
“I got to play in Indonesia in a Cup game which was a great experience,?? he said.
“But the things that happened were not nice.
“Over there we had coaches speaking behind our backs saying one thing but doing the other so I didn?t like it and I decided to leave.??
On his return to Australia, Mayora pledged his allegiance to Sydney Olympic but quickly darted to Uruguay in January for trials prior to the start of the NSW Premier League season.
“I went over to Uruguay and trialled and actually got an offer to sign for a club,?? Mayora said.
“Unfortunately over there you need a manager with you to join a team and I didn?t want to do that.
“But when I left the club that wanted to sign me, they told me their doors were open for me after the World Cup so I left on good terms I guess.??
The striker will now play out the season with Sydney Olympic and aims to return to the country of his heritage in the future.
“I?d love to play over in Uruguay,?? he said.
“Playing over there, knowing the language and culture makes things a lot easier.
“The players are much different over there, their skill level is quite high, they are very sharp.
“It is another world over there. Over there it is a full time job and that is what I am now aiming to do.??
