Extending its existing four year commitment to Football NSW and moving the partnership in a new direction for 2010, McDonald?s will offer support to footballers from grassroots to Premier League levels.
With naming rights to two tournaments, the McDonald?s Cup and the McDonald?s Champion of Champions, ongoing support of existing tournaments and continuing to support junior footballers with scholarships; McDonald?s is delighted to continue its involvement with Football NSW and enhance the existing partnership.
?McDonald?s is proud to partner with such an outstanding association, offering communities across NSW the opportunity to participate in various tournaments and challenge them to achieve outstanding results,? said Robert Lancaster, McDonald?s Sylvania Licensee.
?This is an exciting year for football internationally and we are keen to see more and more of Australia?s top players make it to the world stage. We hope that our partnership with Football NSW will assist in illuminating our homegrown talent in years to come,? added Robert.
McDonald?s will provide support for various tournaments throughout the year including the Proctor Park Challenge, Mitchell Cup and Shield, McDonald?s Cup, State Robertson and Bill Cullinan Cups, Cheryl Salisbury Cup, McDonald?s Champion of Champions and Football NSW Futsal Premier and Super Leagues.
Football NSW Chief Executive Officer, Michael Quarmby, is thrilled that McDonald?s has become the Official Community Partner and explains how the partnership will benefit footballers across NSW.
?We?re delighted to have McDonald?s on board as the Official Community Partner. We have more than 220,000 registered members who are passionate about football and without the support of partners like McDonald?s, we wouldn?t be able to offer them the opportunity to participate and develop their skills; and to achieve their sporting goals,? said Michael.
With McDonald?s commitment to football from the junior level and, as a key component of the partnership, McDonald?s and Football NSW will also reward 30 junior players with a player scholarship valued at $500.
?We continue to encourage youth across NSW to get involved in competitive sport to develop and strengthen physical and psychological skills that they can carry with them through everyday life,? said Robert.
?It is particularly pertinent that we instil these skills in our children and that?s why we really embrace the competitive nature of football and the values associated with it, including good sportsmanship, leadership qualities and rewarding outstanding talent,? concluded Robert Lancaster.
