Super League Round 6 Preview

Saturday night sees three matches take place with equal leaders Liverpool Bossy travelling to St George Stadium to meet Sydney University. Uni are still unable to play at their normal home ground of Hensley Field but do hope to be there by round ten so it is back to Kyeemagh for this fixture.
Both sides had good wins last weekend after having suffered losses the week before. Uni had to work hard to overcome Macarthur Rams on Sunday while Bossy recovered well after their loss to Parramatta Eagles. The table is slowly starting to take some shape and both of these sides can expect to be up amongst the frontrunners this season. This will be an interesting tussle as Bossy look to retain joint leadership while a win for Uni will see them draw within a point of Bossy.
Dulwich Hill take on the travelling St George at Arlington Oval. Dully have performed admirably since their return to Super League although the results have been somewhat inconsistent. They certainly don?t lack for strike power and have a squad which can do damage. St George have won their last two matches but will need to be on their guard, as no doubt Dully captain Raphael Bove, who spent four good years at St George, will be keen to put one over his former club.
The other game on Saturday sees Macarthur Rams travel to Granville Rage. Granville have slipped up in the last couple of weeks, losing two on the trot and forfeiting their top three position. They will need to regroup this week as a further loss will see them lose touch with the front runners. The Rams also can?t afford a further loss just yet as they move towards the lower reaches of the table. That is not a position normally associated with Macarthur so this is likely to be a battle to the end.
Two games take place on Anzac Day Sunday with competition leaders Parramatta Eagles facing Fraser Park at Melita Stadium. The Eagles were well beaten at Spirit last weekend and while they will be keen to get over that reverse straight away, they face a Fraser Park who will be showing greater confidence after finally getting off the mark last round. Parramatta will be assessing the condition of both Ben Delicata and Daniel Borg midweek, following their injuries on the weekend and they may have to start this match without two of their more influential players.
In one of the more local of derbies, Northern Tigers meet their northern counterparts, Spirit FC, at Mills Park. The Spirit will be cock-a-hoop after being the first side to take points off Parramatta this season but will need to be wary of a Tigers side who have slipped to ninth spot, a position they surely didn?t expect. In captain Paul Davies, the Tigers have someone who has been knocking in goals regularly this season, having scored in four of their five matches so far. But they will need to tighten up at the back, having conceded double figures already. Spirit are sure to among the top teams this season, and their win last weekend shows that they fear no one. This game should be well worth a visit.
The holiday Monday has the sole matchup, and final game of the round, between Mount Druitt Town and Central Coast. The Rangers have had somewhat of a mini revival after a poor start and will be looking to maintain that run of form. But the Coast are hurting, though sure that their own turnaround is not far away. This could be close with both sides battling away, as a win for Mount Druitt may see them in the top half of the table for the first time this season but the Coast desperately need points.
As always, a good round with tempting fixtures. Some excellent football is on display in the Super League and well worth seeing.
