Eastern UNSW Lions roaring in Arrive alive Women’s Super League

UNSW

The emergence of the club was the result of many months of hard work between the Eastern Suburbs Football Association and UNSW FC. The acceptance of the team into the league was a great reward for all those who put countless hours into piecing the joint venture together.
Following the news that the Eastern UNSW Lions would be part of the 2010 competition the coaching staff commenced trials in late October in an attempt to put together the three Girls Youth League and two seniors teams required. Some fine players were selected to wear the club?s colors in this inaugural year.

Starting with a blank canvas has certainly been a challenge for the players, their parents/families/friends and the coaching staff. The coaching group, headed by First Grade Coach Anton Ivancic has a wide range of experience and qualifications.

The clubs results so far have been positive. All teams took on a tough pre-season to prepare for their new adventure. That appears to be paying off with the manner in which the side has performed in the early rounds of the competition.
The two Eastern UNSW Lions senior teams contested the annual Mitchell Cup/Shield tournaments in Bathurst in early March. Both teams proved extremely competitive which gave everyone involved with the club a great deal of confidence going into the season proper.

Head Coach Anton Ivancic said ?All of our teams will only get better with more game time. This augurs well for the rest of the season. We are competitive. We will give every team a tough game. Character, skill and attitude is there in abundance and that’s how we like it.?
It sounds like Eastern UNSW Lions are here to stay!
