Arrive Alive Women?s Super League Round 7 Review
There were plenty of close encounters of the football kind as some very evenly matched sides did battle across Sydney and the Central Coast.
The big clash of the day was at Lambert Park where the APIA Leichhardt Tigers were hosts to the unbeaten Gladesville Ravens.
Unfortunately the details supplied from this match cover only the goal scorers. APIA started this match strongly and in the first half hour the Gladesville side struggled to compete. An early goal by Kate Meehan put Gladesville on the back foot and they went into half time chasing the game.
Just prior to the break, The Ravens had started to lift their game. They continued this trend in the second half before Meehan put a second goal away to seemingly kill the match off. Gladesville didn?t give up though with Mel Fornito scoring a long range screamer to bring them back into the game.
The Ravens certainly put APIA under pressure in the closing stages but were unable to bridge the gap. The Gladesville girls suffered their first defeat of 2010 to a clinical APIA side.

Your writer has also been supplied with little or no detail on the Central Coast Lightning and Lady Hawks match at Pluim Park.
The underrated Lady Hawks appear to have put the Central Coast Lightning girls to the test but Tamara Myers came up with the winning goal for Central Coast to leave them sitting in fifth place on the ladder with a game in hand. Lady Hawks hold on to fourth place but have plenty of others breathing down their neck.

At David Phillips Field the Eastern UNSW Lions broke through for their first win in the Arrive Alive Women?s Super League.
Once again I have only the names of the goal scorers to share with readers but The Lions scored a solid 3-0 win over Springwood United FC. There?d have been much celebrating for Eastern UNSW after this one as they?ve come so close to victory in a number of matches this season.
Roberta Andrade was one goal scorer for the home side whilst Izzy Breukelaar was rewarded for some fine play with a brace.
Springwood battled gamely, but were unable to match The Lions for the full ninety minutes.

In the match at St George Stadium the St George FC and Northern Tigers sides fought out a tough 1-1 draw.
Neither side gave an inch in the first half with plenty of passion being thrown into the match. This was a charity day but there certainly wasn?t anyone giving any charity on the field.
After going to the break locked at 0-0 the two teams came out for more of the same in the second half. A serious injury to Maree Van Der Wielen from Tigers fired the match up somewhat. But, as the dust started to settle, Melissa Toumbelekis opened the scoring for St George in the 73rd minute.
Time became Northern Tigers worst enemy. As the minutes ticked down it looked as if the home side might get away with all three competition points. But with five minutes remaining on the clock Gabby Dal Pozzo saved the day for the Northern Tigers by snatching an equalizer.
The two teams should be congratulated on a close match but also for their fund raising efforts for breast cancer. A final amount raised is yet to be announced but I hope to be able to inform everyone of that figure in this week?s Round 8 Preview.
The result leaves Northern Tigers in sixth place and St George FC in eighth.
