Zeljko ?Spider? Kalac?s farewell match against Newcastle Jets

Sydney United has produced the most Australian Internationals in the history of football in Australia which is a statistical fact and Kalac would rank as the best goalkeeper to come out of the Sydney United nursery.
Kalac?s International debut for Australia was against Malaysia in 1992 and he has won 51 International caps for Australia. His most famous year was in 2007 playing for Italian Serie A giants AC Milan where he competed in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
He was also part of the Australian World Cup squad in Germany 2006 who are now part of Australia football folklore with their then achievements which exceeded everyone?s expectations.
At a towering 202cm, his sheer presence between the woodwork was immense and intimidating as was his speed and agility.
At a recent press conference in Sydney Kalac was happy with his time as fully fledged footballer.
?My time as a footballer has been an immensely special one from the day I first started to play as child ? right up until my last game in Europe.
?Football has given me the ability to travel the world and play at the highest level with the best players, teams and coaches the world has to offer. The highlights of my career of course is my time at AC MILAN, the biggest club in Italy and one of the powerhouses of the game not just in Europe but I would say in the World and the times I represented my country for which there is no greater honour in sport.
?May I also say that I hold very special the time I made my debut for United which was the catalyst for my career. To be able to come back and say thank you to my fans ? our fans, will be an honour and one that I am looking forward to very much?.
