The talk of the evening was who would land this season?s 2010 Super League Player of the Year award which was taken out by St George Saints? pint sized striker Juan Carlos Chavez in 2009 but prior to that being announced, a flurry of other awards were announced.
Starting from the State League Two Hurstville City Minotaurs? talented goal machine Michael Di Meglio picked the Golden Boot award after smashing home 18 goals for 2010. The 25-year-old lethal marksman was part of the Minotaurs outfit that narrowly missed out on taking the Premiership and Championship as Fairfield Bulls took out both honours.
The Bulls also took out the Grade 20 Premiership however Hurstville City Minotaurs reigned supreme winning the Championship.
The stage was set for the State League 2 Player of the Year and it was Roosters FC skipper Ercan Topal who grabbed the plaudits. The 27-year-old was outstanding for Roosters FC up-front scoring 11 goals in assisting in the club?s run into the finals series but unfortunately did not push on from there. Topal however etched his name into Football NSW record books as being the best player in State League 2 for 2010.

Moving along to State League 1 and it was Fairfield City Lions sharpshooter Yavuz Ekinci who won the honours of the 2010 Golden Boot award winner after notching 21 goals for the season. The 33-year-old experienced attacker was in devastating form for as his goals played a major role in securing the club the Championship for 2010.
Balmain SC?s rising young star Denny Noor was awarded the State League 1 Grade Player of the Year as the 20-year-old looks set to hopefully embark in establishing himself playing senior football in 2011.
Gladesville Ryde Magic picked up the double as they were awarded the State League 1 Reserve Grade Premiership and Championship while Hills Brumbies took out the Premiership with Fairfield City Lions winning the Championship in the First Grade.
The major award for State League 1 went to the wire but it was Hurstville ZFC?s 36-year-old player manager Vjekoslav Zoric who took all the honours in being awarded the Player of the Year award. The experienced attacking midfielder battled hard all season in what was a tough year for the club who ended up at the foot of the State League One ladder.
Finally in the Super League category it was the Northern Tigers who grabbed the Premiership in Reserve Grade while Parramatta Eagles took out the Championship for 2010.
Spirit FC?s promising youngster James Irwin was crowned the 2010 Grade 20 Player of the Year with his outstanding performances in the respective competition and the 20-year-old has been earmarked as one to watch out for in 2011.
Parramatta Eagles finally ended their barren spell of not winning Premierships when the former NSL giants took it out for 2010 and won promotion to the 2011 NSW Premier League while Northern Tigers grabbed the headlines on Grand Final day when they took out the Championship after an emphatic 4-0 victory over St George FC.

Macarthur Rams? deadly tall marksman and Kiwi born Samuel Messam was in scintillating form as he struck 20 times to have been awarded the 2010 Super League Golden Boot award.
Macarthur Rams? number one goalkeeper Tomislav Romic received the accolade for being crowned the 2010 Super League Goalkeeper of the Year award while Northern Tigers coach Jason Eagar snapped up the 2010 Super League Coach of the Year award. Eagar and his men had a fantastic season after clinching the 2010 Super League Grand Final title with a comfortable 4-0 victory against St George.
The scene was set for the final award namely the Super League Player of the Year award which went to Fraser Park?s attacking English born midfielder Alexander Smith.
The 25-year-old had a huge season in the Super League after his move from the United States of America where he played football for FC Dallas.
The talented star was unfortunately not present at the awards evening currently holidaying in Darwin but upon receiving this accolade, Smith was certainly on the radar of a number of NSW Premier League clubs for 2011.

Football NSW ?Fair Play? awards were also given on the night as Hawkesbury SC took out the State League Two honour while UNSW took out State League 1 and the Northern Tigers the Super League plaudit.
Other notable awards on the evening was the Referee of the Year which went to Kevin Peddie while the Media Award was presented to the Inner West Courier’s Alex Cauchi for his outstanding efforts promoting the Super League and State League One and Two competitions.
Parramatta Eagles? long serving stalwart George Ellul received the honourable Charles Valentine Medal for his outstanding services for the game.

George started supporting the club formerly known as the Melita Eagles in 1965. Although being a supporter, George spent days and nights assisting the club out in a number of areas.
In 1982 George decided to stand for election for the board of directors and until now has remained part of this for the past twenty-nine years.
George is known to many at the club for being the first to arrive to open up Melita Stadium and the last to leave and locking up at each of the club?s home games and training nights.
On match day, George is there putting the nets up, marking the fields and making sure everything is right to go on game day.
Over the past 29 years, George has held various positions on the board from Director, Social Coordinator, Ground Manager and Under 18?s and Under 21?s Team Manager. But for anyone that knows George, his much appreciated position he held was on the board as Senior Team Manager where he has been there for the last 15 years.
George has a great camaraderie with the players and staff alike that have only but respect for the hard work and efforts he has gone through for the club. His passion for football and for his beloved Eagles is second to none and expects nothing in return but seeing his club win as many matches and championships as possible.
George Ellul has dedicated over half his life to football and the Parramatta Eagles giving his services to the game and club asking for nothing in return. George is the longest servicing board member in Eagles history and looks set to continue this trend for years to come.
It was truly a fitting award for such a passionate advocate of the game.
