The Arrive Alive Women?s Premier League Champions will play the Canberra United W-League side, containing three former Stingrays stars in Michelle Heyman, Caitlin Cooper and Lyndsay Glohe.
In what has been a long but very successful season the club has made good its promise to the players that they?d be given every chance to show their ability both NSW and interstate..
The Stingrays have travelled over 3500 kilometres since the end of their domestic season; having played Sydney FC?s W-League side twice for a 4-0 loss and 4-2 loss, Adelaide United?s W- League team in a 1 all draw, the SAIS team for 1-0 win and, last weekend, a 2-1 loss to the Newcastle Jets W-League side.
Saturday sees the Illawarra girls up against the side that many pundits believe will be one of the W-League finalists this season.
The girls won?t be finished there though, having agreed to one more trial against Sydney FC?s W-League Champions to help round out the Sky Blues preparation for the W-League competition.
The Stingrays have proven to be very competitive against all their high profile opponents. Illawarra?s fine performances have not only been a good advertisement for the strength of the Football NSW Arrive Alive Women?s Premier League but also an indication that the side would not look out of place in the W-League if the opportunity was to present itself in the near future.
