National Team Coach Robbie Stanton assembled his squad comprising of players from all parts of Australia. The squad was able to utilise Club Marconi?s facilities for the four day camp, and spend time together as a group.  Stanton put the players through their paces with the able assistance of NSW Premier League players Yianni Fragogiannis and Nathan Denham.
The camp was highlighted by a game on the Saturday against the 2011 Marconi Stallions? Grade 20 team, on a balmy afternoon at Marconi Stadium. The result finished with a three goal to nil victory to the young Stallions, who were surprised at the competitiveness of their opponents.
Stanton worked on his team?s shape and structure from the back, but the first half lacked opportunities for his side.  It was the Stallions that created most of the chances as the Deaf Team were working their way into the match.
At half time, the Stallions led by one goal to nil, with the goal coming in a somewhat bizarre set of circumstances.  A shot from a Marconi Stallions? player thumped off the cross bar and, on its descent, deflected off the goalkeeper?s heel and spun into the back of the net.
The Stallions tried their luck a number of times from outside the penalty box, as they found it hard to break their opponents? resolute defence.
Early in the second half, the National Deaf Team had their best chance of the match with a free kick coming within centimetres of putting them back on level terms.
From this point, they gained confidence and demonstrated their ability to threaten teams when going forward. In the end though, a couple of soft goals were added by the Stallions, as the team started to tire in the warm conditions.
For the Australian National Deaf Football Team, Coach Robbie Stanton was pleased with the improvement in the shape and structure of his team, despite the relatively short period of time he had with the players.
Once again, Club Marconi proved that they are exceptional hosts when it comes to football, with the provision of the well presented and groomed facilities.
The Australian National Deaf Team appreciated the professional environment provided for their players by Club Marconi and the Marconi Stallions and presented the Club with a pennant to commemorate the event.
