Fraser Park set to celebrate their 50th Anniversary
One of the measures decided by the club?s new board is to allow 40 children the chance to play the entire under 6 or under 7 season with the club for free.
The club?s vice President Daniel Alfonso explained, “our dream is to have a kid start with us from the beginning and stay with us right to senior level.??
Fraser Park President Ant?nio Cerqueira, the founder of Oporto, said the move was not just about bringing players to the club, but about growing the wider club community.
“We want to bring more people to the club. When a player joins Fraser Park, their parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, cousins and friends, they come with them,?? Cerqueira said.
The generous offer by the club includes a club shirt, shorts, socks and a ball.
Fraser Park has a bright 50-year history, although Cerqueira admits that things needed to change if the club was to move forward.
“There’s a feeling that over the last 15 years the club was a little run down, but we’re trying to push the club forward and take it in a new direction.??
While the club has strong Portuguese roots, Cerqueira does not want it to be identified solely as a Portuguese club.
“We open the doors to everyone. I’m a big believer in not just having one community, but to work with everyone. I don’t care where people come from, everyone’s welcome.??
A gala dinner will be held at the Fraser Park Main Hall on Saturday February 19.
