Football NSW CEO seeks new challenges

Quarmby

The award winning CEO advised that it is his time to move on in search of fresh challenges.
Mike is a well respected administrator and an esteemed leader to staff.  He has twice been recognised for his efforts by his peer sporting organisations in NSW.  He has been named Administrator of the Year (2006, 2008) by the NSW Sports Federation.
During his 12 year employment at the former NSW Amateurs and then Football NSW ? the last five as CEO ? Mike?s passion for the game helped him achieve a number of significant milestones which assisted football in establishing itself as the number one sport in the state.
Through a number of various initiatives, he delivered economic stability ? particularly as CEO ? introducing strict budget control and, with Finance Manager Joe Denina, strict control over spending.
Quarmby was also a pioneer in player development, and played an important part in operationalising Project 22 which aimed to lay down the foundations required to give elite youth footballers in the state the highest chance possible to succeed at the top level as adult footballers, free of charge for coaching.
As CEO, Mike was a force in the development of Football Stars of Tomorrow, a national communication tool aimed at promoting and exposing the sport.  Now entering its sixth year on Australian television, Football Stars of Tomorrow was recognised by the NSW Sports Federation who twice awarded the show its coveted Media Award in 2008 and 2009.
At competition level, his idea of a state, ?FA Cup? style competition has now evolved into one of the most prestigious tournaments in NSW football. The Waratah Cup (McDonald?s Cup) is an annual knockout competition open to men?s team from NSW State Leagues and Association teams.
Football NSW President Jim Forrest was saddened to hear the news of Mike?s departure but wishes him all the best in the future.
?The Board of Football NSW, it?s Staff and Members wish to thank Mike for his dedication, not only to the organisation but more importantly to the sport generally.
?He will be sorely missed at Football NSW.
?We wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.?
