2011 CPISRA Paralympic Football World Championships

The draw took place at the annual gala night of sports in the Province of Drenthe, where the 2011 World Championships will be held in June. Local and Provincial Governors completed the draw in the presence of well- known sports people from around Europe.
In group A, is Brazil, Netherlands, Australia and Spain. In group B Ukraine, Scotland, Canada and an additional team will face each other for a slot in the second round. Russia, England, Argentina and the Korean Republic will play in Group C. Lastly, group D will consist of Iran, Republic of Ireland, USA and Japan.
The matches will be played in the cities of Assen (the pitch of local football club Achilles ?94), Emmen (SC Angelslo and FC Emmen) and Hoogeveen (VV De Weide). The final matches are scheduled for 1 July in the FC Emmen stadium.
When asked about the tournament, Paul Brown, Head Coach of the Australian team stated, ?This is the strongest team we have taken away to date and I believe that the European teams who have seen Australia in the past will be surprised.?
The team has one more camp in Sydney on the 27th ? 29th May at the Sydney Academy of Sport before flying out to the Netherlands on the 10th June 2011.
The early arrival will allow the players to acclimatise and work on those fine details before their first match on the 18th June 2011, where they will be taking on Spain.
The squad consists of 12 players, 5 of which are from NSW and 5 staff which will also be present are also from NSW.
