NWS Koalas snap up star Matilda Ellyse Perry

Ellyse played with the Koalas from the age of 12 and has gone on to become one of Australia?s most gifted sports people having made her debut for both the Australian cricket and football teams at the age of 16.
Koalas coaching director, Leigh Wardell, herself a former Australian representative, made the announcement to a capacity crowd of Koala players, managers and sponsors at ELS Hall in North Ryde last Friday night.
?It is wonderful that we are welcoming Ellyse back home to the Koalas?, Wardell said.
Perry is currently touring in India and is expected to join the first grade squad in a few weeks.
In the meantime, the team notched up a 6-0 season-opening victory against the Gladesville Ravens with former Australian representatives Jessica Seaman and Britt Simmons putting in typically strong performances.
Also at the Koalas season launch were NSWIS scholarship holder Chloe Logarzo, a recent signing to Sydney FC and goalkeeper Lizzie Durack, who have recently returned from the Australian Schoolgirls tour of England, Ireland and Wales. Durack, who captained the undefeated Australian team and Logarzo have played football together at the Koalas for five years.
In front of a packed audience of players, coaches and a record breaking number of sponsors, guest speaker Stefan Kamasz, Acting CEO of Sydney FC paid tribute to the Koalas achievements and the tremendous job that the NWSWF Association and the Koalas team of coaches and support staff are doing for women?s football.
