PROSPECT UNITED V FC GAZY
Prospect were merciless at William Lawson Reserve on Saturday night, securing a 3-0 win over FC Gazy with Prospect United striker Joshua Muggleton bagging a hat-trick.
Prospect United midfielder Matthew Hubbard kicked off proceedings in the first few minutes of play with a clever through ball, picking out a darting Daniel Cornet run that was pulled back by the linesman?s flag.
A minute later saw Gazy?s first attacking venture. Alex Aravena found Fujioka Ryota whose quick thinking one touch pass put Avenoso behind the defence ? but it was also pulled up for offside.
FC Gazy?s burly striker Ruizio beat his marker in the 8? minute and was lining up the goal before being brilliantly dispossessed by Prospects central defender Michael Viera.
Just moments later, imposing FC Gazy defender Cincotta made a great tackle to win possession from the nippy Daniel Cornet, after collecting a neat pass from United defender Eren Kirkpinar.
Oliver Omari threatened in the 17? minute for Prospect as he delivered an enthralling ball into the box from the left flank that was cleared out for a corner.
The follow-on deep corner by Adrian Jennings teed up Luis Freitas who volleyed with power straight into the arms of FC Gazy custodian Mathew Brandalise.
Prospect?s best moments in the attacking third arrived via the head of Joshua Muggleton in the 29? minute, who glanced his header goal bound before it  bounced off the crossbar from an accurate Adrian Jennings corner,
Ertan Uzel came to life in the 31? minute, picking up the loose ball in the front third after some nice work by midfielder Alex Aravena to unleash a shot from 35? yards out. Uzel?s effort lacked conviction though as it sailed well over the target.
A minute later saw an excellent swinging free kick by FC Gazy?s burly defender Cincotta from half way into the box, but Avenoso misjudged the flight of the ball and watched it trickle out for  a goal kick.
Luis Freitas made a lively run on 33? minutes, but the slippery surface was his undoing after using his pace and skill to beat his marker.
FC Gazy were pressing for the opening goal and after 35? minutes, Bragias found space in the 18? yard box. Just before he could pull the trigger though, Anthony Maxwell made an excellent last gasp tackle to unnerve Bragias, and in-turn sliced his shout out for a goal kick.
FC Gazy probably should have been a goal in front just moments later. Ruizio cleverly pounced on a poor first touch from Prospect defender Eren Kirkpinar on the edge of the box, but his unbalanced effort blasted wide of the target.
Down the other end Prospect made no mistake as they went 1-0 up after 39? minutes of play. Adrian Jennings crossed into the penalty area picking out Joshua Muggleton, the striker still had much work to do as he carefully adjusted his body and glanced his header past Brandalise for the opening goal.
Prospect gained some much needed confidence from their opener and just a few minutes later, Matthew Hubbard looped a terrific threading pass for Luis Freitas that would have seen him one on one with Brandalise, but his run was halted by the referee?s whistle for off-side.
The last chance of the first half fell to Daniel Cornet, who skipped past his marker and let fly a shot that sprayed wide of the goal.
Following the break, substitute Paul Curjak?s first involvement saw him receive a fantastic through ball from Anthony Maxwell, but the linesman flag put an end to the attack.
FC Gazy tried to play their way back into the game as the commanding Cincotta hit a thunderous shot from distance that skewed off target.
A great run by Paul Curjak resulted in Prospect?s second goal after 63? minutes. Curjak beat his marker with pace and made tracks inwards towards goal before running out of space. With FC Gazy unable to clear their lines, attacking marksman Joshua Muggleton pounced on the loose ball and made no mistake, thumping his effort into the bottom corner to put his side 2-0 up.
United went close again just moments later as Matthew Hubbard connected with a corner. His volley was technically sound, however the ball continued to rise as it sailed over the crossbar to untrouble FC Gazy?s net.
Down the other end, FC Gazy continued to press on the counter-attack, but Prospect?s shot-stopper Shannon Smith made a magnificent save to put an end to an FC Gazy attacking raid, sliding out to win the ball against Fayia Mansaray.
FC Gazy continued to push United and in the 73? minute, it was Cincotta again who wasted a free kick on the edge of the 18? yard box, letting fly a rocket that lacked accuracy and flew well over the crossbar.
Paul Curjak continued to cause problems in the front third and earned United a penalty in the 80? minute. Curjak ran inwards towards goal and before shooting, was clipped by an FC Gazy defender for the referee to have no option but to point to the penalty spot. Joshua Muggleton stepped up to the place, driving his powerful effort straight down the middle of the goal, sending Brandalise the wrong way to round off a fantastic hat-trick.
The last real chance of the game fell to FC Gazy, who continued to push United until the final minute. Mansary found Ruizio who made a great run into the box, turning and shooting first time ? only for the ball to be deflected and trickle out for a corner, summing up FC Gazy?s luck on the night.
Best for Prospect United were; Joshua Muggleton put in a real strikers-knock, bagging all three goals to secure the win for his side; Adrian Jennings was a real threat throughout the match, winning tackles in the middle of the park while also adding another attacking dimension to United?s game, crossing dangerous balls into the box all game long. Michael Viera ensured his side kept a clean sheet, and showed true leadership from the back.
Best for FC Gazy were; recent recruit from Belmore, the experienced Alex Aravena proved a handful in the middle of the park, often dictating Gazy?s play and gave his all for the length of the game; Fujioka Ryota looked dangerous every time he settled on the ball, and probably lacked support in the front third.

Nepean and West City cancelled each other out on Saturday night, sharing the spoils in close a 1-1 draw.
Imposing central defender Nathaniel Harnett put Nepean in front inside the first half hour of play.
Nepean must have thought they?d done enough to snatch all 3 points ? as they lead all the way with only 3? minutes remaining, but West City?s persistence paid off as the youthful Benjamin McCann equalised to ensure both sides would share the points on offer.
The draw sees both sides pick up valuable points, helping West City surpass Bathurst into sixth while Nepean retains their position on the ladder.
Mountains United 1 (P Henderson 65m) Hakoah FC 4 (N Jablonski 8/43/47/77m)

Goal-scoring marksman Neil Jablonski scored four goals to ensure Hakoah secured all 3 points at Summerhayes Park on Saturday night, further increasing their lead at the top of the ladder.
Jablonski kicked off the proceedings with the opener in the 8? minute before doubling his side?s advantage just before half-time.
Following the break, Neil Jablonski bagged am impressive hat-trick after just 47? minutes of play, as Hakoah found themselves in a commanding position 3-0 up.
Mountains United athletic striker Peter Henderson did get his side a look in with a 65? minute goal but Jablonski was at it again just 12? minutes later, scoring Hakoah?s fourth and final goal to wrap up the game 4-1 in Hakoah?s favour.
The win sees Hakoah maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign, sitting prettily on top with 27 points while Mountains United lose their third successive game to drop one place down to fifth on goal difference.

Luddenham United and Hawkesbury City played out an entertaining 3-3 draw at Luddenham Oval on Sunday afternoon.
Luddenham Marksman Huso Merdanovic put his side in the lead with an 8? minute goal while Grant Odei doubled United?s advantage after just 19? minutes.
Hawks leading marksman Paul Cooper pinned a goal back for his side after 26? minutes and hard-working midfield Robert Carle sent travelling fans into raptures with an equaliser just 2? minutes later to make it 2-2.
The excitement however was short lived, as Luddenham defender Ivan Bazina edged United back in front just a minute later and that?s the way it stayed until half-time.
Following the break, Luddenham were kept quiet in the second half as Robert Carle scored an equalising penalty for Hawkesbury in the 69? minute, with both sides sharing the spoils.
The draw sees Hawkesbury lose ground on Hakoah at the top with the gap now stretched to 7 points while Luddenham still find themselves amongst the middle packers of League Two.

Western Condors secured three valuable points as the defeated Belmore 2-1 at home on Sunday.
Alen Lajin put Western Condors in front after just 16? minutes before Mauricio Navarrete added a second inside the first half to send Condors 2-0 up into the break.
Belmore United came out of the blocks firing in the second half as Chris Kartambis scored in the 47? minute to unnerve Condors fans.
Western Condors struggled to find the back of the net in the second stanza but were good enough to hold out Belmore for a tight 2-1 win at home.
Western Condors move into ninth on the ladder after securing their first win of the campaign while Belmore remain in last position.
Division Two Reserve Grade – Round 9 Overview
Prospect United secured their first win of the campaign, ousting FC Gazy 3-2 in a bottom of the table clash as Bathurst 75? scored an important 1-0 win at home to consolidate their spot in the top 5.
Nepean who still have 3-4 games in hand on most sides, brushed West City aside with a 4-0 win while Hakoah defeated Mountains United 2-0 away from home.
Hawkesbury retain top spot as they defeated Luddenham United 1-0 while Western Condors have moved up to 10 points after securing all the points against Belmore United with a 3-0 win.
