Teresa Polias crowned 2012 Platinum Medal winner

It was to be NSW women?s football night of nights as selected players and teams from both the Women?s Premier and Super League were rewarded for their tremendous efforts in 2012.
Football NSW Director Mark Reading as well as Rob Laws from the Women?s Standing Committee were in attendance on what was a wonderful night.
The award everybody was waiting for, the Platinum Medal, was awarded to Marconi Stallions energetic midfielder Teresa Polias who took out the coveted prize.
Her sensational season was a undoubted bright spot on Marconi?s season, as they finished in seventh place in the Women?s Premier League.
Away from the main prize Jenna Kingsley from Sydney University took out the ?Debbie Tait? Memorial Trophy (Golden Boot) award scoring 31 goals for the season.
Sticking with the Women?s Premier League, Illawarra Stingrays? consistent shot-stopper Dimi Poulos took out the Goalkeeper of the Year award for the second season running while Manly United?s Grant Lee took out the Coach of the Year Award.
The Illawarra Stingrays Emma Cobb took the Reserve Grade Player of the Year, just rewards for a fine season.
Referee of the Year was awarded to Peta McCallum, who took out the award after a great season with the whistle.  
In other Women?s Premier League awards, Illawarra Stingrays won the Premier League Club Championship award whilst Northbridge FC took out the Fair Play Award.
Meanwhile in the Women?s Super League, it was Parramatta Lady Hawks? Alix Roberts, who took out the Player of the Year Award.
UNSW?s Amanda Watson was awarded the Super League Goalkeeper of the Year award for the second year running, whilst Ayse Adalis won back-to-back Golden Boot awards. Having scored 39 goals for APIA Leichhardt Tigers last season, she added another 26 this season for Eastern UNSW Lions.
There were joint winners of the Reserves Grade Player of the Year, the title shared between Bridget Brien of Southern Districts Emeralds and Adriana Maras of St George FC.
Northern Tigers took out the Super League Club Championship and Southern Branch was awarded the Super League Fair Play Award.
The Illawarra Mercury were winners of the Media Award for their dedication in promoting the women?s game. The Illawarra Mercury has been a staunch support of the women?s game for a number of years now with the coverage going from strength to strength. Constant coverage in a region with a population of over 400,000, on previews, reviews and player features on the Illawarra Stingrays are readily available on a daily basis highlighting the importance of women?s football within the South Coast area.
