Record teams apply as Waratah Cup 2013 Draw Announced

2013 will see a record total of 97 teams from National Premier Leagues NSW Mens 1, National Premier Leagues NSW Mens 2, State League 1 and 2, Association clubs as well as teams from the Illawarra Premier League and ACT will compete in what will be a huge year for the Cup.
The new structure of the draw will see teams knowing their own fate all the way through to the Final which will certainly add more spice to this prestigious tournament.
A total of 48 grassroots football clubs will kick off round 1 proceedings with Round 2 to be held on Wednesday 10th April, Round 3 on Wednesday 24th April, Round 4 on Wednesday 8th May, Round of 16 on Wednesday 22nd May, Quarter-Finals on Wednesday 5th June, Semi-Finals on Wednesday 19th June and the Grand Final of the Cup set to be held on Sunday 7th of July.
Football NSW Head of Football Phil Brown was impressed with the amount of grassroots teams involved with the Cup which may well see a ‘fairytale’ story unearthed  such is the beauty of a tournament such as this.
“It is great to see so many grassroots clubs stepping up to test their skills against the National Premier League and FNSW State League teams. Every year the number of local team entries increases, which demonstrates a growing awareness of the integrated talented player pathway, and an eagerness of aspiring local clubs to demonstrate their ability to compete at the next level.”
