Marconi Stallions to take on Malaysian National Team

The clash between the 2012 IGA NPL NSW Mens 1 Champions and the Malaysian National team is expected to erupt on Thursday 13th June at Marconi Stadium.
The Malaysian National Football team arrived in Australia earlier this week with a scheduled international friendly match next week against the former NSL powerhouse – Marconi Stallions.
Malaysia is currently visiting Australia to play the AIS selection squad in Canberra later this week
and travels here to Marconi Stadium next Thursday to play the 2012 NSW Premier League champions.
Former Socceroo and NSL player Scott Ollerenshaw turned sports promoter representing the Malaysian Football Federation felt great to be back home and was looking forward to seeing both teams in action.
“Marconi is one of Australia’s founding football clubs and our Malaysian team is thrilled to be playing against such a historic club.”
This marks the first encounter between the two teams, representing a new form of rivalry between the Stallions and the Malaysian internationals.
Stallions coach Jean Paul de Maringy, who once played head to head with Ollerenshaw in the
former NSL was happy with the match and believes his Stallions will give the Malaysians a run for their money.
“We now have our squad at full strength, and the recent signing of former Sydney Olympic striker Elsid Barkhousir was a blessing in disguise.”
De Maringy then added “stepping up against Malaysia will be a good indication of how we measure our performance, especially at the international level.”
Marconi take on Malaysia next Thursday 13th June at Marconi Stadium with the kick off at 7pm.
Entry to the match is FREE. For more information please contact Club Marconi on 9822 3333 or visit www.clubmarconi.com.au
