Six NSW based players have been named to represent the Pararoos during the Intercontinental Cup in Spain later this month.
Lead by NSW team captain and current Pararoos Vice-captain Chris Payne, the group of Ben Atkins, Connor Marsh, Jack Williams, James Turner and Ned McCabe will pull on the green and gold.
It is the first tournament of 2013 for the Pararoos and coach Paul Brown is looking forward to testing his side against quality international opposition.
"This is the first stage of our campaign to qualify for the 2016 Paralympic Games and we have a good mix of experienced and younger players for the challenge ahead,” Brown said.
“My players are playing good football at the moment and are just starting to come of age.”
Brown stated he was impressed with the NSW contingent in his squad and felt they have really stepped up in recent times.
“I was impressed with New South Welshman James Turner and Jack Williams in camp. They have a good understanding at the back and will do a good job in Spain,” He said.
“James Turner has speed to burn and Jack Williams is a solid defender and plays well out of the back.
Ned McCabe is making the switch to Goalkeeper under the watchful eye of Pararoos Goalkeeper Coach, Darryl Darke.
“Ned still has a lot to learn with regard to technique, but he is making the transition quite well.”
Connor Marsh and Ben Atkins will control the midfield, having both represented NSW at the Australian Paralympic Football Nationals.
“They play good combinations and have a good understanding of how each other plays,” Brown said.
