John Maclean to appear at Football4all

DEL_1237

In what has been hailed as a massive coup for Football NSW, the amazing John Maclean will be our special guest in this Sunday’s Football4all Gala Day to be held at the Bernie Mullane Complex at Kellyville.

Maclean will come to one of Football NSW’s flagship events with a lot of pedigree as his inspiration and determination has touched millions in Australia.

John Maclean was hit by an 8 tonne truck, whilst cycling on the M4and training for the Nepean triathlon, near his home town in 1988.

The impact resulted in John suffering multiple breaks to his pelvis and back, a fractured sternum, punctured lungs, a broken arm, and left John an incomplete paraplegic.

John went on to become the first wheelchair athlete to have completed the famous Hawaii IRONMAN World Championships and is the first wheelchair athlete to swim the English Channel. He has represented Australia at the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

In 2006 he took part in the invitation-only extreme endurance event Ultraman World Championships, in Hawaii. In 2001 he sailed in the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race before winning a silver Olympic medal, in his FIFTH different sport, Adaptive Rowing, at the Beijing Paralympic Games.

John’s desire through the John Maclean Foundation is to help the many Australians who require wheelchairs to chase their dreams

The John Maclean Foundation recognises and encourages each child’s abilities and helps harness their strengths to achieve extraordinary things on their own terms.

John continues to set the standard for what is physically possible for a wheelchair athlete and inspires thousands by doing so. Through the John Maclean Foundation John touches the lives of families who are often in desperate need of equipment to enable their children to remain as included and active in every aspect of everyday life.

Through fundraising, donations and programs like, jmfkids4kids.com.au, the John Maclean Foundation raises money to be able to give young Aussies in wheelchairs a real chance to chase their dreams.
