Major rallying the troops for Cup glory
Travis Major has been a loyal servant to Blacktown City, moving into his ninth season in the black jersey.
The 24-year-old attacker has been in red hot form this season for the Demons, scoring 13 league goals and amazing 7 goals in 4 matches en route to the cup final.
Major feels it’s a privilege to compete in the Waratah Cup Final.
“Personally, it was important to make the Cup Final because they don’t come around very often and to have the chance to play in one is always a privilege.”
He says it’s also important for the famous club who prides themselves on wining trophies.
“It’s a great opportunity for the club as we haven’t won any silverware since the 2010 Grand Final and we’re a club who prides themselves on being successful, so a win in the cup would be a welcome success.”
Like his team mate Sasa Macura, Major says the toughest opponents they faced in the cup was State League One outfit Hakoah Sydney City.
“Hakoah played a tough physical style of football which made us work hard for the win.
“I imagine they could spring a surprise in the upcoming FFA Cup.”
He says that Manly United are in the final for a reason.
“They are a good team to have made it this far and they are a far better team then their league position suggests.”
“We won’t be taking them lightly but we know what we need to do to win the match so we will definitely focus on that.”
Major knows where the danger can come from in the final.
“Brendan Cholakian, he’s had a decent year so far and he can always hurt you if you are not on your game.”
The City attacker has been the difference in many games this season and has been a go to man on various occasions.
“I hope I can be the difference, it’d be great to score in the final.”
A modest Major though, made sure to mention his teammates and football the club plays.
“I wouldn’t have anywhere near the goals I have had so far this year without the boys behind me, they do a mountain of work and I just get to finish off a lot of our free flowing passing football.”
