Senior Hyundai A-League Referee and Football NSW Referee Manager, Kris Griffiths-Jones, will officiate at this weekend’s Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) National Premier Leagues (NPL) match between Broadmeadow Magic and Hamilton Olympic, as part of the NNSWF and Football NSW (FNSW) Referee Exchange Program, now in its second year.

The Referee Exchange Program, which was developed and rolled out in 2013 between the two FFA Member Federations, offers the best referees within NNSWF and FNSW the opportunity to officiate at an NPL level, experiencing an atmosphere different to that they are used to by refereeing different players and styles of football.

NNSWF Community Football Manager Peter Haynes said it is a fantastic result to get such a high profile referee such as Kris Griffiths-Jones to officiate at a regular season NPL fixture.

“It is great to have someone of Kris’ standard and experience to come along and officiate at a regular season NNSWF NPL match as part of this unique program.’

“Not only is it an excellent opportunity for Kris and the two teams but the appointment is sure to help boost the profile of refereeing at an NPL level,” said Haynes.

NNSWF Elite Referee Coach Luke Davies has been appointed as Match Day Assessor.

As part of the program, all participating officials are assessed by accredited referee assessors and provided with a performance report to assist their future development.

This weekend’s referee exchange will also see NNSWF’s top female referee, Kirralee Andruschak, officiate an IGA NPL NSW Mens 1 fixture between Blacktown Spartans and South Coast Wolves on Sunday, 20th July in Blacktown.

Kirralee is a foundation referee of the Westfield W-League and has officiated over a total of 37 matches over the six seasons of the competition. Kirralee also officiates locally in NNSWF’s Premier Competitions and was awarded her FIFA badge in 2014, which is another indication of her standing amongst Australian match officials.

This weekend’s Exchange Program is one of four (4) identified rounds within the NNSWF NPL and IGA NPL NSW Mens 1 season that the program will take place.
