After an unbelievable weekend of results Round 15 of the Womens State League showed just how unpredictable the competition is.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers 1 – 3 Gladesville Ravens
Following on from recording a hard earned draw against tournament heavyweights Mt Druitt last week, the Ravens really needed a result here to secure their presence in the finals hunt.
Gladesville have string a few results together over the past month that has warranted a top four place and this game demonstrated their amazing composure after controlling the entire match.
Meanwhile APIA had their chances but will look to their next game against Mt Druitt to truly prove their worth in this league.

Nepean FC 3 – 0 Mt Druitt Town Rangers
Structure, dominance and composure are words that best describe the identity of this Mt Druitt side. Unfortunately this week they were beaten well by a team that outwitted them with those traits.
Nepean have simply been magnificent and the tournament’s form team. After claiming a maximum 15 points from the last five games they have certainly showed they are capable of becoming champions.
They have been solid at the back all season having one of the best defensive records and maintain a high level of commitment throughout the whole squad. This win means they go equal top with Bankstown City FC with a game in hand who they will play next week.

Bankstown City FC 1 – 2 Southern Districts Emeralds
This was possibly the upset of the season so far as Bankstown record their second straight loss for the first time this season. After losing to St George last week in a thriller, Bankstown are now left wondering where their form has gone.
Perhaps complacency is the best way to describe their form during the last five games after only recording just seven points from the possible fifteen on offer. Their midfield has lost it’s dominance and defense has been lacklustre at times.
Meanwhile the Emeralds  showed that they are capable of beating anybody on their day. After some recently poor results losing three of their last four games Southern Districts needed this win badly to remain in the chase for a finals spot.
They showed great determination on and off the pitch with the team coming together against what seemed an almost impossible task of beating the tournament leaders in their home turf. They need to now consolidate their position with this result and string a few wins together and they will be right back in the hunt for a finals berth.

St George FC 18 – 0 Parramatta Lady Hawks
A score line that says it all. Two sides that are on opposite ends of skill and talent were on the pitch. The Saints showed last round that they are still one of the teams to be considered as champions after defeating Bankstown City.
They simply dominated this game with their usual attractive brand of football. With Rachelle Wang and Jessica Carosi scoring 11 goals between them, St George demonstrated just how lethal they are in front of goal.
Their confidence that they had all season seemed lost in their three game losing streak prior to last week but has definitely regained it after these two magnificent displays. This result has cut down their points deficit to just two and now have a great chance to get third place next week.
