Grade 12s Boys

Connells Point 2
Balmain DFC 0
St George Association’s Connells Point have beaten Balmain DFC 2-0 and were crowned 12 Boys Champions of Champions as Luke Dimeo struck two terrific goals to clinch the title for the Rovers at Cook Park.
After a close start to the match where both sides had opportunities at either ends of the pitch it was Connells Point Dimeo that was able to score the first goal.
Dimeo found the ball just outside the Balmain box, after some nice lead up play down the right hand flank by the Tigers. After beating a couple of defenders with some swift footwork, Dimeo struck the ball beautifully into the bottom left hand corner to break the deadlock and put Connells Point ahead.
The best opportunity for Balmain came from a free kick from 30 yards out as Tim Ferguson struck the ball beautifully and just as it looked like it was going to beat the keeper and the scores were going to be levelled, the ball just floated over the crossbar and into the netting, a lucky escape for Connells Point.
In a tight second half, it looked as if either team could’ve taken the game away from the opposition as many chances were snuffed out by some good goalkeeping from both Carlos Barriga and Alex Campbell.
Connells Point eventually went on to seal the victory and Dimeo again provided some individual brilliance in the 46th’ minute.
Dimeo struck the ball from a corner as he beat all of the defenders and curled the ball into the back of the net.
An amazing strike and a well-deserved goal by the Rovers as they had dominated possession and field position in the ten minute period.

Grade 12s Girls
Northbridge FC 3
AC United 1
Northbridge FC came from behind to defeat AC United 3-1 in the Grade 12’s Girls Champions of Champions at Cook Park.
AC United were able to dominate the early stages and their early momentum was rewarded on 11’ minutes as AC United went 1-0 up as the Northbridge defence coughed up the ball inside their own half. Adrijana Djuric was able to pick up the ball and keep her composure to nail the ball past the goalkeeper so that AC United could start the game from in front.
Northbridge then found some field position and were able to sustain some pressure close to the AC United goal.
Their best opportunity came the way of Rebecca Terry who had a free strike from just within the box but the ball just sailed over the crossbar and the scores weren’t troubled.
Having gained some momentum and confidence from previous chances, just seconds before halftime in the 25th minute Samantha Davis was able to provide some individual brilliance and level the scores as she struck a ball with her right foot that cannoned past AC United goalkeeper Alyssa Khoshaba and both teams went into the break on even terms.
Five minutes into the second half and there was high drama as referee Jay Talbot whistled for a handball in the box by AC United and a penalty was awarded.  Felicity Elias made the most of the opportunity to slot the ball past AC United goalkeeper Alyssa Khoshaba to put Northbridge in front for the first time.
Northbridge then struck again only minutes later as a cross came in from the corner and the AC United defence was unable to handle it as Samantha Davis put the final touch on the ball as it bounced over the line on 35’ minutes.
A string of late chances for AC United came unstuck and although trying very hard it was Northbridge that were the better side as the 3-1 result showed in the end.

13 Boys
Auburn District 0
Bankstown Sports Strikers 1
Bankstown Sports were the dominant victors in a tense struggle in the boys under 13s clash in the champions of champions festival.
The early stages of the game was dominated by Bankstown  as the first attempt in the 15th minute by Alex Delinicolis after some well worked passing, was saved well.
Delinicolis turned provider to Larry Adeniran playing through the forward who skewed his effort wide. The constant threat on the Auburn goal continued as Ky Baldwin saw a corner fall to him and put an effort at the keeper.
Adeniran was a constant threat against the Auburn defence with some weaving runs. He got due reward in the 27th minute for the effort, scoring the only goal of the game. The ball pinged around the Auburn box before Adeniran popped up to smash it home.
There was almost double delight for Adeniran after the break. The striker latched onto a bouncing ball, swivelled and placed his shot almost too well, hitting the post after having the goalkeeper beat.
Marcus Licastro worked himself into the game after halftime. The midfielder was busy working on and off the ball. His energy was almost rewarded in the 35th minute after getting some space and hitting the post with a shot.
Bankstown were continuing to get into positions but couldn’t put the finishing touch on a spirited Auburn side who were hanging on.
Two minutes later, Adeniran once again used his pace to beat the defenders, getting one on one with Bucker Eid, who smothered his effort well. Eid made several crucial stops for Auburn, keeping them in the game during the Bankstown barrage.
When you don’t take your chances it gives the opposition a chance to break back. Auburn after being trapped in their half for the first three quarters sprang into life in the last fifteen.
Auburn continued to work themselves into positions but weren’t able to convert. Their best chance fell to Mahmoud Elrich taking down a long ball well, rounding the keeper but was thwarted by a last ditch block.
As time ticked away, Auburn were getting forward and had one last corner before time expired. The corner was cleared away by dogged Bankstown defence and the whistle blew to crown Bankstown champions.

North Epping 1
Wollongong Olympic won 4-1 on penalties
A heroic penalty display by goalkeeper Zac Bedelovski saw Wollongong Olympic defeat North Epping 4-1 in a penalty shootout in a nail biting Grade 14 Champion of Champions Final.
Bedelovski stepped up to score Olympic’s first penalty before saving two North Epping attempts to secure the win.
Despite a strong start to the match by the South Coast side it was North Epping who took the lead in the 5th minute when defender Cameron Baikie slotted the ball home in a goalmouth scramble.
Wollongong blew a great chance to get back into the match in the 15th minute when they had a penalty saved.
The equalizing goal came in the middle of the second half when classy midfielder Thomas Darjan was left unmarked in the box and headed home from close range.
Five minutes before full time Darjan danced past three defenders and tested the keeper who came out on top.
Both sides had a number of chances to win the march in extra time but the match was forced into penalties.
Bedelovski stepped up to strike the first penalty home for Olympic before Darjan and another two perfect penalties gave them the title.

Grade14 Girls
Brookvale 2
South West Slopes 0
Brookvale were crowned Champion of Champions with a 2-0 victory over South West Slopes in the Grade14 Girls Grand Final.
In a tight affair a goal in each half to the Manly Warringah Football Association side was enough to secure the win.
Brookvale started the match on fire scoring within two minutes through attacker Kristina Reisinger.
Reisinger was at it again seven minutes later winning the ball before taking on the defence and forcing a save from South West Slopes goalkeeper Emily Doohan.
On the stroke of half time Reisinger had another chance to make it two, beating three defenders before shooting straight at the keeper.
South West Slopes had their first sight on goal in the 41st minute resulting in Hannah Phillis shot well over the bar from the edge of the 18-yard box.
Five minutes later South West striker Brigette Holder was put through on goal but Brookvale’s keeper came out early to save.
The missed opportunity came back to haunt South West Slopes one minute later when Sophia Cleary struck the ball into the bottom right hand corner to secure the victory and take the title to Manly.

St Mary’s 0
Plumpton Oakhurst 3
Plumpton Oakhurst won the western Sydney battle at the Champion of Champions grand final with a 3-0 win over St Mary’s in the Grade15s competition.
A double to impressive striker Jack Gerard and opener to Anthony Gale all in the second half blew St Mary’s away.
Plumpton could have opened the scoring in the 3rd minute when St Mary’s keeper Deon Pereira pulled off a stunning save from a curling free kick.
Despite dominating possession and the chances in the first half they were forced to wait until the 44th minute when Gale chested the ball into the net from close range.
Five minutes later they made it 2-0 as Gerard pounced in a goal mouth scramble to slam the ball into the back of the net.
In the 58th minute it was 3-0 when Gerard struck a penalty into the bottom right hand corner.
The Blacktown Association team almost rubbed salt into the wounds of their counterparts when Griffin Jacobs went close from 20 yards out.

Grade 16 Boys
WPH Cherrybrook Lions 1
Pagewood Botany 0
The WPH Cherrybrook Lions have defeated Pagewood Botany 1-0 to take out the Grade 16’s Champions of Champions in a hotly contested decider at Cook Park.
The early stages of this game were dominated by WPH Cherrybrook and on ten minutes Andrew Zalunardo hit a beautiful corner which found the head of Izaack Munoz who brilliantly steered it past Istvan Kovacs to get the opening goal of the game.
After the first goal WPH Cherrybrook started to control the pace of the game as they dominated the possession for the majority of the half. This possession created quite a few chances that went unfinished with Pagewood Botany lucky to survive a couple of close calls, such as one created by Zalundaro on twenty two minutes as he played a brilliant free kick into the box from 30 yards out.
The ball was headed by Munoz but it was just misdirected and the scorers remained untroubled.
Just minutes out before half time Daniel Bounpraseuth had a crack at goal from just outside the box which was on target but a brilliant save from Ivan Kovacs again kept WPH Cherrybrook out.
Kovacs had an outstanding first half and was needed by his team on numerous occasions to make saves.
The attacks kept coming for WPH Cherrybrook after the interval and on 40’ minutes the ball was played into the box from the right hand side which found the head of Munoz who headed it back to Cai Hughes who from almost point blank range hit the ball just a bit too hard and it sailed over the crossbar and another opportunity went begging for the Lions.
The ball game then changed with only ten minutes remaining when referee Jack Casey awarded a second yellow card for Thomas Mantoufeh for back chat and from the subsequent free kick, Munoz almost curled the ball into the back of the net. Kovacs once more was on hand with a full length dive that saved the day for Pagewood once again and kept them in the game.
Pagewood Botany showed great spirit and courage to remain in the game but were never really in the hunt as they failed to create many chances.
The one goal was enough for the Lions to prevail and be crowned Champions of Champions for 2014.

Avalon 2
Lindfield 1
A golden goal in extra time saw Avalon get over the top of Lindfield in the under-16 girls Champion of Champions grand final.
In an evenly fought contest Avalon started the match on the front foot as Ella Smith’s shot was expertly saved by Gabriele Craddock.
They fired another warning shot in the 14th minute but it was seven minutes later they took the lead in an unorthodox fashion. Lindfield’s Emma Dixon kicked the ball with the outside of her boot resulting in it floating into the back of the net.
Dixon had her teammates to thank 10 minutes later when Taylor Leighton equalized after a goalkeeper’s mistake.
Charlotte Patterson thought she had given Lindfield the lead in the 44th minute when she met a cross on the full, only to be pulled back for being offside.
Avalon had a goal of their own disallowed in the 64th minute with the ball seemed to have struck one of their attackers arms.
In the dying stages of the match a Taylor volley cannoned off the crossbar forcing the match into extra time.
The crowd didn’t have to wait long for the winner as Bonnie Frost went through on goal and slotted it past the oncoming goalkeeper to win the match.

Connells Point 1
Normanhurst 0
A tense and defensive clash saw Connells Point and Normanhurst needing extra time and a penalty to separate the two sides, as a late Matthew Donnelly penalty won the game.
Matt Donnelly was a bright spark throughout the contest. The winger had the first effort as he put a tame effort straight to Hamish Fullagar.
Normanhurst responded with an effort of their own through a set piece, two minutes later. The result was sent over the bar.
William Monaha had the first of a barrage of efforts for the Connells Point side. He was played through but couldn’t match his finish with the ball sent through. Reece Gledhill also skewed his effort wide not long after.
After the barrage on their goal, Normanhurst worked into the contest using the wings to good effect getting behind the high Connells Point defence.
Benjamin Jones worked down the right efficiently whipping in several crosses for his central attackers. He almost prised an opening when he squared it for Karl Davis, who flashed the ball wide of the goal.
Donnelly had the final effort of the first half, as he was played down the wing and forced Fullagar into a save. The keeper was a vacuum on set pieces and general play mopping up a lot of efforts from Connells Point.
The temperature rose late in the afternoon, as did the tempo of the game, as both sides got desperate to open the scoring. Several players received yellow cards to calm down the contest late on.
Most of the second half, was played between the two boxes, as both teams worked to retain possession but couldn’t turn it into a scoring opportunity. The best chances fell to Adin Milligan for Normanhurst and Ayden Volcevski for Connells Point who couldn’t test either keeper.
Into extra time the game continued to be a midfield battle. Normanhurst had several opportunities from set pieces. One James Taylor sent tamely into the keeper and another by Joshua Cummins went high.
The best chance fell to Jones, who could only nod his header wide. Normanhurst were getting closer but would pay for their wastefulness.
As the match was drifting towards penalties, Matthew Donnelly made a final burst into the box and was taken down in a challenge. Donnelly stepped up and calmly converted to win the game for Connells in extra time.

Grade 18 Women
Wakehurst 2
Miranda Magpies 1
A magnificent long range effort in extra time saw Wakehurst defeat a resilient Miranda Magpies, after both teams were locked in a 1-1 draw at full-time.
In a brilliant display of athleticism from both teams, the 18’s women came ready to take the championship at Blacktown Football Park in an early morning clash.
The action began from the very first minute with Shama Barras trying to play through Courtney Wood on the right of the field and although her pass was too powerful resulting in a goal kick for the Magpies, Wakehurst showed that they are capable of finding space on the wings.
At the other end, the Magpies also showed how they are in attack as stand out player Heidi Krogh put in a great cross a couple minutes later, but unfortunately for them, no one was there to meet the ball.
It took 4’ minutes for the first shot to come from Wakehurst taken inside the box, however it was a little too weak for it to really test Magpies keeper Alice Mitchell.
In the 7’ minute the Magpies defence showed us exactly why they deserved to be in the finals. Victoria Saville from Wakehurst tried to play through team mate Carla Rothwell, spotting her run with sharp eyes, but the positioning of Miranda’s defence was solid and they managed to break down what could have been a clear one on one opportunity with the keeper.
Magpies goalscorer from the semifinals against Epping, Jessica Declauzel picked up her pace as she managed to beat two Wakehurst defenders down the left in the 12’ minute, but her cross was just not strong enough.
In the 16’ minute Wakehurst winger Saville saw an opportunity to take on two defenders down the left, but after getting past one she was stopped in her tracks by the resistant and stubborn Miranda defence.
The first corners of the game came in the 20’ and 21’ minute, both teams sending the ball straight to the hands of the keepers.
Thirty minutes in and both teams looked highly determined to get that long awaited goal. Miranda and Wakehurst were looking fully alert and sharp in all areas of the pitch, particularly the defence, not showing any signs of weakening going into half time.
As temperatures in the west started to rise in the second half, so did the momentum and tempo of the players.
Just two minutes into the second half, Heidi Krogh once again does a blistering run from the middle of the park onto the right taking on all defenders and finds plenty of space to send in a cross. The cross this time was nicely met by Jessica Declauzel, but just went to the left of the keeper.
For the first five minutes it was all Magpies, but Wakehurst were not giving up.
In the 51’ minute, Carla Rothwell was played through perfectly with nobody marking her and as she looked up to see no one in her path, she knew this was an opportunity not be missed. With full determination she smashed home the game’s first goal.
With heads held very high the Magpies knew they were still in this contest and by no means was it over with at least 39 minutes still remaining.
It took them no time to get the equalizer as Wakehurst could not clear a corner; Chelsea Sharp welcomed the opportunity to nicely slot the ball into the back of the net, sending the Miranda fans into a long awaited cheer in the 59’ minute.
Sharna Barras from Wakehurst then started to become a real threat as she showed her technical ability backed up with pace creating a couple of chances, but just missing that final touch.
For the remainder of the half both teams came agonizingly close, with shots from Wakehurst’s Isabella Macdonald and Miranda’s Rachel Guess but as neither side could break the deadlock, we went into extra time.
It was all Wakehurst in the beginning of extra time and their dominance paid off with an unanticipated long range effort in the 96’ minute from a player who was giving her absolute everything in the game, Renee Cosh, lobbing it over the keeper sealing them the NSW Champion of Champions cup.
The game was highly impressive and despite the fact that majority of the players are sitting their year twelve final exam, the harmony and chemistry within the teams was outstanding, Wakehurst however just beating the Magpies in what was such a close and evenly contested game.

Glenhaven 1
West Griffith SC 0
Glenhaven’s only goal of the game in the 70’ minute was enough to seal a victory against Inner West Griffith FC on Sunday at Blacktown Football Park.
For the first five minutes both teams looked reluctant to commit in attack with the keepers having very little do.
West Griffith took most of the possession in the early stages of the game, passing the ball around well and creating their first chance in the 7’ minute.
Stand out midfielder Nathan Battochio tried to play through a fast paced Zachary Fattore, but Glenhaven defender Lachlan Holmes would not allow his team to concede so early, reading the play well and intercepting the ball.
In the 8’ minute the first corner of the game was awarded to Glenhaven and as it was sent high and hard into the box, the crowd watched in anticipation as it was headed around among the players without anyone taking a chance on goal.
Glenhaven’s first strike came from one of their key players, Kaan Kilinc, but the young midfielders attempt went to the right of Isaac Baratto’s goal.
The first quarter of the game looked very even with both teams creating chances, each displaying their strengths. A stand out play of the West’s was their counter attack. Despite the twenty six degree heat, the players would go from defence to attack in no time.
The first half finished goalless as both teams attempts failed to hit the target. Samuel Genovese for Glenhaven had a brilliant chance in front of goal in the 24’ minute, but was saved from the keeper and on the counter in the 37’ minute a brilliant through ball was slotted through only for both players on either side of it to let it go.
Glenhaven goalkeeper Liam Campbell was called into action in the 49’ minute as a defensive error opened an opportunity for Zalunardo to strike. The keeper though on the tip of his feet, springed to make a match winning save.
Seventy minutes at long last, Glenhaven were awarded for their patience and perseverance. Kaan’s corner was comfortably met by the head of Lachlan Holmes who almost effortlessly just placed the ball exactly where he wanted it.
Being 1-0 down, Wests did themselves no favour of getting back into the contest as a second yellow was handed out resulting in a red, leaving them with ten men with less than ten minutes remaining.
No matter what West Griffith tried, Glenhaven almost seemed to know that they could not get another goal against such a strong team and with that in mind, would not allow anything to threaten their attacking third for the final period.
The game ended with both teams having put in every bit of effort, but just the one goal managed to see Glenhaven scrape through to victory.

Under 21’s Men
Castle Hill United 1
Glenmore Park 0
Castle Hill United sealed the under 21’s Final with a late 87th minute goal to Jared Page enough to hold off Glenmore Park on Sunday afternoon.
In an extremely tight encounter both teams looked to go forward from the onset, and it was Glenmore Park who fired the first warning shot in the 5th minute when a looping header from Christian Alexander was tipped over the bar by Castle Hill United keeper Mark Princic.
But as the half wore on it was clear to see that this would be a real battle, with both teams evenly matched across the park and a real tug of war being played out in the middle of the pitch. Castle Hill midfielder Brendon Tuttle looked to link up with striker Daniel Princic, while for Glenmore Park captain Matthew Duff tried to set up his teams play from deep in the midfield.
In the second half both teams continued playing the ball on the deck but defences were on top as clear-cut chances were far and few in between.
in the 64th minute it was Castle Hill United who had a big chance to open the scoring when the best move of the game saw brilliant ball movement in the midfield lead to striker Princic turning his defender and delivering a precise cross into the box for Daniel Francis, only for the energetic midfielder to have his header fall just wide of the target.
As the game picked up in intensity, it was only seconds later that Tim Russell’s longer-range pile driver went within inches of giving Glenmore Park the lead.
By the 75th minute it was looking like only one goal would be needed to win, and both coaches continuously turned to their benches to try and find a winning combination.
In the last ten minutes Castle Hill United looked to be finishing slightly stronger, and in the 87th minute they were able to get the go-ahead goal when a free kick not dealt with properly by Glenmore Park saw Daniel Mason cross the ball into the heart of the Glenmore box and in to the path of Jared Page, who threw himself above the pack and thumped his header home into the back of the net.
Only minutes later the full time whistle sounded, much to the delight of the Castle Hill players and their fans.

21 Women
Doonside Hawks 2
Maccabi Hakoah 1
Two goals from Nina Jursic helped to lead the Hawks to a comeback victory against a well organised Maccabi Hakoah side in the 21 Women contest.
It was a hot morning in Blacktown for both sides, as Doonside and Maccabi played out a spirited game on Blacktown Football Park 2.
Doonside had the first opportunity Diarna Lombardo, who was a constant nuisance for the Maccabi defence in the opening half. She caught a defender dwelling on the ball, drifting in and flashing a shot wide in the 13th minute.
After that shot, Maccabi shaded possession with their constant hassling of the Doonside defenders with Tamara Viner winning several key balls down the line.
Their pressure off the ball paid off, as Nicole Zwalen found some space on the edge of the box, putting in a strike that hit the crossbar and across the line in the 23rd minute.
The Hawks were stung into action after conceding, with Lombardo having a second attempt deflected for a corner. Doonside worked into the game, dominating possession from Maccabi who were wasteful after their goal.
Nina Jursic fired a warning shot in the 33rd minute. She was played through before curling an effort that went wide. The forward who was moved to a solitary up front position, was tireless in her work all game peppering the keeper.
It was a more deft effort from Jursic in the 39th minute when a tempting cross from the right, fell right onto her foot to slot the ball home.
Six minutes later Jursic nearly made it a brace, as once again she broke into the penalty area but under some defensive pressure bent it wide. Jursic and Mikalya Harris had chances but weren’t able to convert.
Jursic finally had her brace in the 57th minute. The errant passing once again found Maccabi out as Jursic was played in to smash it home.
It was the opposing forward for Maccabi, Gabrielle Rosenberg who was the most likely to bring the game level. She had two efforts including a 59th minute effort that forced a scrambling effort from Pheara Ban and despite the result was constantly involved.
Doonside saw out the last few minutes of the game, forcing a good save from Arielle Gold from a free-kick, taking the Champion of Champions title over Maccabi.

Como West Jannali 2
Como West Jannali took out the All Age Women Champion of Champions final with a tight 2-1 win over Budgewoi FC.
The Sutherland based side started the match on fire and took the lead in the ninth minute. After Natalie Da-Ibarra was brought down in the box Loma Genoud stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way and take a 1-0 lead.
Budgewoi took control of the match in the 19th minute creating their first chance with Casey Cooper blasted over the bar.
In the 31st minute Budgewoi’s Larissa Bundy did exceptionally well to get past two sliding defenders but her impending shot was easily saved.
The Central Coast Football team continued to push and got a deserved equaliser in the 44th minute with Shari Faulkner taping the ball past an oncoming keeper to make it 1-1.
Faulkner had a fantastic chance to give her side the lead in the 53rd minute with two shots saved in succession.
Como took the lead for a second time in the 57th minute. With Budgewoi struggling to clear the ball from the box Jenna Flight stepped up to poke the ball into the bottom right hand corner much to the elation of the crowd.
Budgewoi tried hard to get back into the game but their attempts went to no avail with Como securing the victory.

Dunbar Rovers 3
Kenthurst 2
Dunbar Rovers proved they are ready for the step up to the State League Two competition in 2015 after a 3-2 Champion of Champions grand final win over Kenthurst.
Both sides went head to head in a physical and tense affair at Blacktown Football Park.
Former Blacktown City FC captain Luke Roodenburg showed his experience in the 7th minute, attacking the ball in the box to head straight to the waiting Stephen Deasy in goal for Dunbar.
Roodenburg fired his team up and they took a deserved early lead in the 13th minute. Midfielder Hassan El Khansa put the ball in the back of the net from close range to make it 1-0.
The goal seemed to bring Dunbar to life as Robbie Deasy had two efforts within two minutes narrowly miss the target.
Deasy finally got a shot on target in the 21st minute which ended in a goal. After his shot was saved the ball popped up with Anto Flood rising to head the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-1.
Both sides traded blows prior to the half time break but it wasn’t until the 69th minute that Dunbar took the lead.
After earning a free kick Flood stepped up to score his second with a beautiful shot curling over the wall and dipping onto the bottom left hand corner and into the net.
The lead lasted just two minutes with Kenthurst’s El Khansa scored his second slotted home form point blank range.
But Dunbar were not giving up and scored the winning goal in the 79th minute via a great strike from the edge of the box by substitute Mike Sealy.

Women’s Over 30
Harbord Seaside United 0
Loftus Yarrawarrah 6

Loftus were a class above in the over 30 Women’s Grand Final, with an incredible 4 goal effort from midfielder Hannah Burton helping the side claim an emphatic 6-0 victory over Harbord Seaside United on Sunday afternoon.
It didn’t take long for the scoring to start in the contest, with a 4th minute through ball by Loftus leaving Cassandra Shearer to race in clear on goal, the striker taking a touch and calmly slotting her left-footed shot past the keeper to get Loftus off to a dream start.
Loftus stayed in control with a sustained period of pressure on the Harbord goal, with Shearer and strike partner Melissa Fitzgerald looking lively upfront.
As the half wore on Harbord brought on a number of fresh legs and the game became more evenly balanced. Harbord striker Natalie Kent looked dangerous on numerous occasions, but was unable to find an avenue to goal.
With the half coming to a close Nadene Granshaw and Gitte Foran went close for Loftus, but it was right on the stroke of halftime that a piece of brilliance from Hannah Burton saw Loftus double their lead, the midfielder unleashing a stunning long-range left foot effort that sailed straight into the top left hand corner, leaving Harbord keeper Tracey Curnoe with no chance.
The second half commenced with Loftus in control, but it was a damaging five minute period that effectively ended the contest, with Hannah Burton scoring three consecutive goals.
The first goal came in the 57th minute when a cross into the Harbord box was not dealt with properly and Burton was on hand to slam the ball into the roof of the net.  Celebrations had barely died down for Loftus before a minute later Burton was able to pick up possession on half way and pull out another spectacular long-range rocket to claim her hat trick and take the score to 4-0. Unbelievably, only moments later, Burton would strike again, this time pouncing on a loose ball on the edge of the Harbord box and slamming home a low, hard drive to make it 5-0 for Loftus.
To their credit, Harbord continued to battle and look for a goal, with Kent going close in the 70th minute with a close range header, but she was denied by the Loftus keeper.
The scoring was rounded off in the 77th minute when a square ball to Fiona Forster saw the midfielder hit a side footed shot from the edge of the box to make the final score 6-0 on a brilliant day for Loftus Yarrawarrah.

Wakehurst 3
Sydney Juniors 2
Wakehurst claimed a hard fought 3-2 victory over Sydney Juniors to claim the over 35’s Grand Final on Sunday afternoon at Cook Park.
As expected it was a tight opening as both teams settled into the game. Wakehurst put the early pressure on goal and looked particularly threatening from set pieces and smart wing play. Sydney Juniors meanwhile were content to sit back and look to break on the counter attack.
Wakehurst looked to have opened the scoring in the 25th minute when a corner sailed into the back of the net, but the goal was disallowed and called back for infringement during the play.
Minutes later and against the run of play, Sydney Juniors would take the lead when a perfectly struck free kick from the edge of the box by Steven Bekavac curled over the wall and into the back of the net to take the score to 1-0.
The goal lifted Sydney Juniors as the game became more evenly balanced, but a minute before half-time Wakehurst were able to equalise when they were awarded a penalty for a handball in the box. Cameron Davies converted the spot kick before the referee ordered a retake, and this time it was Darren Leach who kept his nerve to slot home the penalty and make it 1-1.
The second half saw Wakehurst come out on the attack as chances fell to Davies and Nick Sheather, but it was Kevan Harding who was able to put Wakehurst up 2-1 in the 55th minute from the penalty spot after Sheather was pulled down in the box.
With the game on the line tensions started to boil over as some hard challenges came in from both sides, but it was Sydney Juniors who struck the next blow in the 66th minute after a great through ball from midfielder Vinko Blazevic found striker Bekavac, and he was able to beat the keeper from an acute angle on the edge of the box to put the score equal again at 2-2.
It was an instant response from Wakehurst as only two minutes later they were once again back in front when Shaun Wright chipped a delightful ball into the box and Charles Hudy was on hand to head home what proved to be the winning goal for Wakehurst.

Over 45 Men

Inter Lions 4
Lilli Pilli 2
The over 45’s men battled it out for the Champions of Champions title at Blacktown Football Park seeing Inter Lions claim a 4-2 victory over Lilli Pilli.
In the very first minute Lilli Pilli created the opening chance inside the box with Peter Liddy doing a cheeky back heel to set up his team, but the shot hit the wrong side of the net.
That was enough to wake up Inter as two minutes later Ennio Morson received a cross, but it resulted into a wasted opportunity.
Another chance came their way in the seventh minute with Murphy sending it across the face of goal but no one was there to finish the chance
The first goal was scored in the eighth minute when Lions’ David Burns had his shot deflect into the net via Lilli Pilli’s Mark Whitaker for an own goal
Lilli Pilli’s keeper Glen Lockhart was not ready to concede another goal in the 23’ minute and pulled off what was an amazing double save, denying the Lions a two-goal lead.
Inter though determined as ever to get a comfortable lead did not give up and in the 24’ minute, Stephen Lipari turned and pulled off a beautiful shot for the second goal of the game.
It went from bad to worse for Lilli Pilli in the 34’ minute as Lipari got his brace by slotting the ball home sending the Lions fans into raptures.
Inter went into half time looking very comfortable, but knew that the job was only half finished.
The Sutherland Association side hit back via Stewart Porter who put the game to 3-1 as the tall target man worked hard in getting his team back on track.
It seemed the momentum swung Lilli Pilli’s way as Porter bagged a double slotting home from close range putting the game to 3-2 as the match took a huge turn.
The comeback however was laid to rest as Burns jinxed his way through the box and put home his side’s fourth and that’s the way it ended as the Canterbury Association side claimed victory in a hugely entertaining 4-2 victory.
