Phil McColl says farewell to Football NSW

After 15 years of meritorious services to Football NSW, one of the longest serving advocates to our game, Phil McColl has decided to call it a day.
Phil’s journey in football started at the age of 10 playing for the Peakhurst Wanderers in the St George Football Association. He continued as a player (with a short hiatus in his teens), concluding his on field career with Birrong in the Amateur Soccer Federation.
When Phil moved to Blacktown he was heavily involved with the Doonside Hawks Soccer Club.
Phil also held committee positions with the Blacktown District Soccer Football Association over a six year period, three of those as President.
Phil’s connection with the State governing body began in the late 1970’s when he was a member of the NSW Soccer Federation General Purposes Tribunal and Disciplinary Committee.
In 1998, Phil took a full time role as Assistant Competitions Secretary with the NSW Soccer Federation, remaining in the competitions department through unification with the NSW Amateur Soccer Federation that created Soccer NSW, now known as Football NSW.
During his time in the competitions department Phil managed the elite men’s club divisions, and championed the development of female competitions, playing a pivotal role in establishing the Women’s Premier League.
Phil remained in the competitions department until 2009 when he accepted the position of Manager at Southern Branch.
Phil’s contribution to the development of the game during his career has been significant.
Football NSW congratulates Phil and wishes him all the best as he embarks on a new chapter in his life.
