A monumental Kodjo Adjassou Memorial tournament will take place on the 14th of March at Coffs Coast Tigers Football Park in memory of the young footballer who tragically passed away last year.

The tournament will be held to remember and celebrate the life and values of Kodjo as well as the standard of elite sportsmanship and communal living.

Six teams will take part in the day long tournament, bringing together varying footballing levels and competitions across New South Wales.

Kodjo had associations with all clubs and teams competing which included Coffs Coast Tigers Football Club, Bankstown City Lions, Royal Australian Air force Football Team, Burkina Faso Select, Parramatta Select and a Coffs Harbour African Select side.

The tournament will take place at Coffs Coast Tigers Football Park, Polwarth Drive, Coffs Harbour, with kick off set for 9:30am. The Grand Final has been penned in for a 3:30pm kick off in what will be a fantastic day remembering one of New South Wales’ most promising players.

One of the main organisers of this tournament, Isaac Sesay, wanted to spread more than just the football gospel to people but more importantly wanted to honour his close friend.

“The family will use this opportunity to educate all sporting enthusiasts about the seriousness of sporting accidents and provide an opportunity for positive sporting attitude and collaboration.

“The tournament objectives are to encourage friendly behaviour in highly competitive sporting environments, increase and mix the exposure of different levels of football and to give individuals and community an opportunity to experience the diversity that Kodjo had.”

This initiative is a great way to remember a heartbreaking loss for family, friends and the footballing community on a person that touched so many people’s lives.
