It will be a monumental Skill Acquisition Program (SAP) Gala Day this weekend as the official opening of Football NSW’s recently redeveloped Valentine Sports Park takes shape on Saturday.
Joining in on what will be a football festival for all 31 accredited FNSW SAP Licensees from across NSW, the official launch will kick start what will be a huge two days of football.
The official launch on Saturday (12pm) will officially kick start a new era for the new headquarters at Football NSW with FFA CEO David Gallop along with a number of dignitaries past and present who will all witness what will be a memorable opening.
SAP Clubs will have players from under 9’s, 10’s and 11’s playing at the newly redeveloped Valentine Sports Park in what is tipped to be a great spectacle for all players, coaches and parents involved after the success’ it had in its inaugural year in 2013.
Last year the SAP Gala Days experienced Mother Nature at its very worst as poor weather played a role in various days being cancelled.
Football NSW Technical Director Alex Tobin was looking forward to the two days of what he stated will be “memorable moments” for all involved.
“Football NSW looks forward to a great weekend of Football from all the SAP players.
“As you aware, SAP is totally committed to a development focus and the creation of the best possible learning environment in youth Football.
“Gala days are a great opportunity for many to see the wide scope of teams and players from many areas of FNSW coming together to play.
“The Football you will see from these boys and girls will be consistent with the National direction in youth and builds on the great technical improvements in these age groups since the beginning of SAP in 2012.”
Football NSW Head of Competitions Troy McColl was excited with the SAP Gala Day’s prospects in what will be a fun filled and informative weekend of football.
“Football NSW welcomes the SAP teams for what will be an opportunity for all of the players and coaches in the program to come together, share and learn from their collective experience.
“The Gala Days supplement the best practice learning environment provided by the program licensees, and we look forward to a weekend of fun and football.
“To have this year’s first SAP Gala Weekend coincide with the launch of Valentine Sports Park is certainly a fitting touch and one event that will live long in the memory of everyone involved.”
SAP is the official Football NSW development program for players aged from U9s to U11s, with the Gala Day providing teams with the opportunity to play against others from outside their regular zones.
It will also provide Football NSW with an additional opportunity to assess programs beyond those being assessed by the State Technical Director at regular match days.
Developed by the Football NSW Technical Department, SAP provides a structured best practice learning environment, consistent with the FFA National Curriculum, to support development of the State’s aspiring young footballers.
