Men’s State League 1 Round 4 Preview

Round Four involves the competition’s two undefeated teams take their sternest tests including North Shore’s hosting of Dulwich Hill, named Match of the Round. Check out all the dates, times and previews in our preview.
Gladesville Ryde Magic vs Granville Rage, Saturday 18th April, 5pm, Magdala Park
Gladesville remain one of the two remaining undefeated teams in the competition, alongside North Shore after ending the run of formerly unbeaten Nepean.
They take on a Rage side stinging from a loss last weekend despite the late goal from Nenos Bobo. Magic host their first home game of the new season and will aim to continue their good start.
Hills Brumbies vs Balmain Tigers FC, Saturday 18TH April, 7:30pm, Lily’s Football Centre
After their slight blip against North Shore, Hills were back in the winner’s circle last weekend with a 2-1 win and head to Lily’s brimming with confidence against a besieged Balmain side.
Coach Joe Di Guilo will want a response of his side who surrendered against Rydalmere and look to make last weekend a minor road block.
Western NSW Mariners FC vs Nepean FC, Saturday 18th April, 7:30pm, Proctor Park
The Mariners would consider themselves unlucky to only earn a draw against Inter last weekend in a display their coach [Andrew Fearnley] described as their best football of the season.
Nepean isn’t an easy prospect after their snapped streak last weekend, as the squad will try to fire themselves back up the ladder in the West.
Rydalmere Lions vs Inter Lions, Saturday 18th April, 7:30pm, Rydalmere Park
It was a gutsy effort last weekend from an undermanned Rydalmere team, to run out late winners against Balmain. The key for Tony Basha’s men is to take the approach from the Balmain game into this weekend against Inter to bank some points for later.
Domenic Di Mento’s last moment equaliser scrapped a point for the visitors this weekend, rose them to fifth and gave them a performance to possibly build a run on.
Stanmore Hawks FC vs Hawkesbury City SC, Sunday 19th April, 3pm, Arlington Oval
A month into the season won’t be the cause of alarm bells for the two clubs, who sit 10th and 12th respectively going into the weekend but a loss on Sunday might start it.
Hawkesbury have yet to register a win from their two home games and face a preying Hawks side who can create goals but also have the worst goal difference (-6) in the opening few weeks.
North Shore Mariners vs Dulwich Hill FC, Sunday 19th April, 3pm, Wentworth Park (Match of the Round)
The other undefeated side remaining in Men’s State League 1 play hosts to the Match of the Roun this weekend, taking on Dulwich Hill FC. Norm Tome has Dully playing well in the opening month, Adam Johnston and Steven Hyranthos goals firing them past Granville.
They need to continue this form against North Shore, who had four different scorers in their romp over Stanmore and didn’t need a customary Michael Cole goal. A cracking contest will be played out at Wentworth Park by two of the State League’s more attacking sides.
