F-League players dominate Futsalroos Squad

The entire Futsalroos squad including coach Rob Varela of the Dural Warriors has been dominated by F-League stars as they currently take on the Futsal Whites for the Trans-Tasman Cup as well as taking part in the Commonwealth Futsal Cup in Wellington.

These matches have seen the F-League Competition take a break this weekend, with the exception of two F-League matches being played that were deferred earlier in the season due to venue unavailability.

This Futsalroos Squad features six of the current top ten F-League goal scorers, in Wade Giovenali (21 goals), Adam Cooper (18 goals), Jarrod Basger (17 goals), Fernando De Moraes (15 goals), Jordan Guerreiro (12 goals) and Christopher Polkinghorne (11 goals).

The Futsal Whites squad also features two 2015 F-League players in Daniel Burns (Dural Warriors) and James Vaughan (Bayside Pirates).

The Trans-Tasman Cup kicked off on Wednesday night with the Futsalroos defeating the Futsal Whites 4-2, with goals for the Futsalroos from Marino Musumeci, Jordan Guerreiro, Fernando De Moraes and Jonathan Barrientos, while Daniel Burns and Marvin Eakins both netted for the Futsal Whites.

The second match of the Trans-Tasman Cup kicks off at 4:30pm (AEST) Thursday, with the final Trans-Tasman Cup match being played at 4:30pm (AEST) Friday.

The final match of the Trans-Tasman Cup also serves as the first match of the Commonwealth Futsal Cup, involving representative teams from New Zealand, Vanuatu, Malaysia and Australia.

The Futsalroos’ second match of the Commonwealth Futsal Cup will be against Vanuatu on Saturday (6:30pm AEST), before finishing against Malaysia on Sunday (4:30pm AEST).
