Step aside Brisbane Roar because the Bankstown City Lions Under 17’s girl’s team has been undefeated for two straight seasons.

Playing beautiful football along the way, Bankstown finished the season without dropping a single point en route to the title in the Women’s State League competition.

Bankstown City only started their women’s program three years ago and have had an extremely good year, taking out the club championship and making themselves eligible for promotion to the PS4 NPL NSW Women’s 2 competition for 2016.

This is something George Nolevski, Head of Women’s Football, is extremely proud of from his club.

“It’s been a moment to cherish for women’s football in Bankstown.

“We have been consistently strong since first entering the State league in 2013, with 75% of our girls being retained and developed as footballers.”

“Winning the club championship, having three teams as Premiers and earning the right to be eligible for promotion to the NPL 2 is a real achievement for the club.”

The 17’s team is only part of their success, also taking out the Premiership in the 13’s and Reserves, as well as finishing second in first grade.

The goal scoring tally for the Under 17’s moved into triple digits over the weekend, picking up a whopping 101 goals for the season and only conceding five.

Jamaica Marshall leads the competitions goal scoring charts with 29 goals, followed by Maddi Finch with 21 to her name.

Finch, along with team mates Gen Russo and Rachel Cassar have already made their First Grade debuts this season.

For Team Manager Louise Genc, the team had set high targets at the beginning of the campaign and they exceeded them.

“The girls set a goal at the start of the year to finish top of the ladder but to win it with 5 games to go is something special," she said.

The Bankstown City group wants to create a friendly atmosphere within all their teams.

“We aim to promote friendship between all age groups, with the junior and senior players all-knowing each other.

“The club has a great culture that will strive to promote women’s football.”
