Football NSW notes that FFA has today released a media statement confirming the constitutional status of FFA and its State and Territory Federations.

The text of FFA’s media statement is below:
FFA has today confirmed the constitutional status of FFA and its State and Territory Member Federations.
The information circulated among Football NSW stakeholders wrongly stated that the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) had advised FFA that its constitution is invalid.
In response, FFA has released correspondence it received from FIFA yesterday containing FIFA’s statement on this matter which says:
“Art. 13 par. 1 let. f of the FIFA Statutes requires all FIFA Member Associations to ratify statutes in accordance with the requirements of the FIFA Standard Statutes. The alignment of statutes is a standard exercise that FIFA conducts with all its 209 Member Associations and Australia is currently one of a number of countries undertaking the process. We are working collaboratively with AFC and FFA in this regard. The changes do not relate to or have any impact on the [FFA] elections in November.”
Further, FFA has stated that the FIFA process has no bearing on the current constitutional status of FFA or its State and Territory Member Federations.
“FFA deplores the circulation of incorrect information that can only serve to mislead stakeholders,” said an FFA spokesperson.
“The constitutional status of FFA and its State and Territory Member Federations is certain and valid under Australian law and within the FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation framework.
“FFA will continue to administer the national game on a sound basis of governance that’s guaranteed by its constitution.”
