Blanco joins Mounties Wanderers F.C

Former Socceroos coach Raul Blanco has been announced as the new head coach of Sydney Uni.

Former Socceroos coach, Raul Blanco has been appointed as Senior Technical Director at Mounties Wanderers F.C. for the 2016 season.

Raul has an amazing coaching C.V some highlights include coaching the Socceroos in 1998-99, the Olyroos Sydney 2000 Olympic team as well as being the Socceroos assistant coach to both Eddie Thompson and Terry Venables and a technical assistant for New Zealand during their 2010 successful world cup performances in South Africa.

Mounties Wanderers F.C Football Operations Manager Charles Abdilla and Sports Administrator Glen Ingle described the appointment as a huge signing for the club.

“The appointment of Raul is historic for the club.

“Raul brings to the club a wealth of experience, knowledge, professionalism and experience never before seen at the Club.”

Raul sees the club as a sleeping giant with a strong desire to be a force in Football.

He hopes to mentor the coaches and share his wealth of knowledge with them, he also has a huge desire to develop the youth at the club and be a club to develop our own players.

“This is the best way to develop a strong culture at the club”.

He wants to instil the professionalism and dedication in the players from a young age.

He says it will take time to develop highly technical players that can play a modern possession based football but all good things in life require time, patience and perseverance.

His coaching team for 2016 will include 1st Grade Luis Contigiani, Grade 20’s Tony Caruso, Grade 18’s Adam Esho and the Youth Technical Director Steve Zammit.

Raul commented that he is happy with his coaching team, they have all shown themselves to be hardworking enthusiastic students of the game that have great passion for the club and a desire for long term success.

Trial dates for the 2016 season will be announced soon.
