Steven Lowy AM elected FFA chairman

Steven Lowy AM was elected as chairman of Football Federation Australia (FFA) for a three-year term following the 2015 Annual General Meeting (AGM).

At the AGM, four new directors were elected unanimously by the Members. They are;

• Steven Lowy AM, co-CEO of global retail property group Westfield Corporation.

• Daniel Moulis, a former Socceroo and principal of Moulis Legal, a specialist legal firm based in Canberra and Brisbane and operating across Australia and in Asia.

• Crispin Murray, Head of Equity Strategies, BT Investment Management.

• Kelly Bayer Rosmarin, Group Executive for Institutional Banking and Markets at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

They join the continuing directors Cheryl Bart AO, Moya Dodd, Joseph Healy, Simon Hepworth and Chris Nikou on the nine-member Board.

Following the AGM, the new Board of the FFA held its first meeting, where the election of the Chairman was the first item of business. Steven Lowy was elected unanimously.

“I am incredibly proud, honoured and privileged to be elected as Chairman of FFA,” Steven Lowy said. “I want to pay tribute to the tremendous foundation that has been laid by the former Board.

“I look forward to working with all stakeholders, the Member Federations, Hyundai A-League Clubs, the Board and the Management Team at FFA to drive future growth for football.”

At the AGM, the Members also unanimously passed resolutions to acknowledge the service of retiring directors Frank Lowy AC, Brian Schwartz AM and Phillip Wolanski AM.

At a General Meeting of FFA Members last Wednesday, an amended FFA Constitution was adopted principally to address the requirements of FIFA.

One of the amendments reflects FIFA’s practice of honouring former members for meritorious service to football.

The Members at the AGM bestowed honorary titles, as follows;

•           Frank Lowy AC – Honorary President

•           Brian Schwartz AM – Honorary Vice President

•           Phillip Wolanski AM – Honorary Member
