FNSW Hosts Junior AWD Gala Day

Football NSW recently hosted a junior AWD Futsal Gala Day for individuals with special needs as 10 to 15 year old’s gathered at Valentine Sports Park on Sunday 24th of January.

The Junior Gala Day provided a participation opportunity where individuals with special needs came together to develop their skills in a safe, positive and fun environment.

Under the tutelage of Football NSW coaches, participants were treated to a host of fun and engaging games and drills.

It was not only Futsal skills that were being practiced with team work and problem solving high on the list.

Mt Druitt Town Rangers AWD Division 2 coach Helen Stevens was appreciative on what took shape on the day and heaped praise on the special event.

“The event was very well received by our participants who enjoyed every second of it.

“Rest assured, they’re all looking forward to the next one in early February.”

Football NSW Community Development Officer Robert Fitzgerald echoed Stevens’ sentiments.

“It was a great day and it was fantastic seeing so many smiles on all our participants’ faces playing the sport we all love.

“A special thanks to Peter King from the Cerebral Palsy Alliance for volunteering his time to assist on the day.”

Football NSW will be hosting another Junior AWD Futsal Gala Day on Sunday the 7th February 2016 at Valentine Sports Park.
