The world game has come to Valentine Sports Park as the Solomon Islands National Men’s team will call Football NSW headquarters home for the next two weeks as part of their preparations for their upcoming OFC World Cup qualifying matches.

Head coach Moses Toata and his troops touched down at Glenwood on Friday evening as a busy schedule has been organised for the country ranked 200 in the FIFA world rankings which will see the strong 22 player roster tackle a Hyundai A-League National Youth team as well as PS4 National Premier League outfits.

Macquarie University Sports Field will play host to the Solomons’ first friendly match against Sydney FC’s NPL team on the 31st of January while Valentine Sports Park will see them tackle last year’s NPL Men’s Champions Bonnyrigg White Eagles on the 3rd of February (7pm).

Toata’s men will end their Sydney tour with a match against PS4 NPL Men’s 2 side Marconi Stallions at Valentine Sports Park (7pm) before heading back home.

The Solomon Islands are riding on a recent wave of success after their young Under 12 Futsal National Team stole all the headlines at the 2016 FFA Futsal National Championships taking out the major title – a first for its nation on Australian soil.
This sparked crazy scenes in Honiara as the young boys were crowned national heroes.
