Chinese Super League outfit Guangzhou R&F FC completed its vigorous two-and-a-half week pre-season Sydney camp as Serbian coach Dragan Stojkovic and his men went through their final training session at Valentine Sports Park on Tuesday.

With the current buzz surrounding Chinese football after the recent transfer period saw the likes of world class footballers such as Alex Teixeira, Jackson Martinez, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Ramires, Gervinho and Fredy Guarin make the move, Stojkovic was busy preparing his chargers for what was set to be the biggest year yet for football in the Far East.

As over 200 million pounds were shelved on transfers, Guangzhou R&F FC went on with their business with a couple of new faces which included new recruits in Swedish international Gustav Svensson and Brazilian Bruninho alongside Chinese players Chen Zhizhao, Yang Ting and Xiao Zhi who all trained at Football NSW’s headquarters.

The club also took in the sights and sounds of Sydney as well as celebrating Chinese New Year.

The players visited famous landmarks such as the Opera House and Harbour Bridge as well as enjoying the culinary delicacies this wonderful city continues to provide in what were fantastic summer conditions throughout their stay.

Football wise, the club took part in a handful of friendly matches which included games against PlayStation4 National Premier League clubs such as APIA Leichhardt Tigers, Bonnyrigg White Eagles, Sydney Olympic, Sydney United 58 FC and Western Sydney Wanderers’ NPL team.

Football NSW CEO Eddie Moore said he was impressed with what the Chinese outfit had to offer in terms of their training methods as well as the level of professionalism they brought to the venue during their stay.

“It was interesting to see the different methodologies the club utilised during their time here as well as viewing various elite training techniques.

“The club conducted itself in a very professional manner and from reports enjoyed their time here which was very pleasing.

“We would like to wish them the best of luck with their upcoming football campaign.”
