Norman Griffiths Oval was awash with enthusiastic football coaches and players as Football NSW rolled into the Northern Suburbs Football Association area staging a Coach Workshop for the Skill Acquisition Phase of 8 to 13-year old’s on Monday evening.

Football NSW Coach Education Manager Oscar Gonzalez was impressed with how the evening ran as well as how advanced all participants were.

“The Under 12 Girls were wonderful to work with and more engaged than other squads I have worked with.

“Their coach in particular is doing a great job with them.

“In the process of the evening, we looked to model how to best engage the players by using strategies of asking the players to come up with practices to work the core skill.

“They surprised everyone with their practices and suggestions.

“When we asked them what they enjoyed most they said the competitive games and being asked to come up with solutions themselves and felt confident they could plan an entire session.

“The girls are a credit to their parents, club and coach as real ambassadors for the game and know we will see those faces reaching even higher levels in the future”.

West Pymble FC President Kevin Johnson also expressed his delight on the Workshop.

“Thanks to Football NSW for a fantastic session.

“The coaches and participant girls team loved it and we would once again be keen on hosting any further Football NSW courses in the future.”
