Football NSW Players shine at Nationals

Football NSW have just completed a highly successful Nationals U/17s (NTC) tournament in Canberra.

With the youngest team in the tournament the Girls were undefeated in the tournament and had the largest number of players recognised and identified by the Technical Study Group (TSG) involving State Technical Directors, the National Technical Director and National Team Coaching Staff.

Additionally, pleasing was the manner in which the girls played.

They dominated possession throughout the tournament and showed both great individual technique and team play that was recognised by all observers.

Football NSW Technical Director Alex Tobin observed all games as part of the Technical Study Group and was impressed with what he saw.

“We are all very proud of their efforts of the girls.

“They were asked to play and execute a demanding commitment to first maintain the ball effectively and to secondly press to win the ball back in a controlled way.

“Their success in achieving this was beyond any doubt and all present were in admiration of their playing style and ability.

“It was also very pleasing to see the younger girls in the squad achieving such high standards at the tournament.

“Special mention to the expert guidance, commitment and support of coaches Craig Foster, Leah Blayney and all support staff that made the experience for the girls such a rewarding one.”

A total of 7 Football NSW girls made the FFA NTC All Star team which included Courtney Nevin, Princess Ibini-Isei, Eliza Ammendolia, Amy Sayer, Bethany Gordon, Mackenzie Hawkesby and Jada Mathyssen-Whyman.
