Round 15 Preview – State League Women’s
As the skies clear, the action thunders on in State League Women’s with four more exciting matches to unfold over the weekend.
SD Raiders vs St George FC, Sunday 17th July 2016, Ernie Smith Reserve, 3pm
SD Raiders have been usurped from their position at the top of the ladder and aim to get back to there at Ernie Smith Reserve Sunday.
They host St George FC who they beat 2-nil earlier this season and possess the attacking threats to repeat the result this weekend.
Rhea D’Mello and Sasha Hammoud are rocks at the back for the Raiders and will need to be on point to deal with Lily Chen and Marissa Nicopoulos of the Saints.
St George sit sixth and are desperate to string together some results which makes for an intriguing fixture for the audience.
Gladesville Ravens vs APIA Leichhardt Tigers, Sunday 17th July 2016, Peel Park, 3pm
Following a last gasp equaliser, Gladesville come into the weekend poised to spring an upset against APIA.
Once again Isabelle Hatton found herself on the scoresheet for the Ravens with a double to make it seven goals in a handful of games.
APIA have continued to add quality to an impressive squad with Teresa Polias and Clare Munro to mount a serious push to the title and possibly promotion.
With all the attacking talents on display, Sunday afternoon promises to be an open and entertaining contest befitting both teams stature.
Mt Druitt Town Rangers vs UNSW Lions, Sunday 17th July 2016, Popondetta Park, 3pm
Mt Druitt Town Rangers host third placed UNSW Lions in a tough clash for the home side.
UNSW are the highest scorers in State League Women’s with 51 goals over the season thus far led by top scorer Rachelle Godman.
She was helped ably by Emily Fardell’s hat-trick in their last fixture who the Town Rangers need to be aware of across the ninety minutes.
Mt Druitt has improved as the season wears on and notably been a tough matchup in the last month so UNSW Lions might not have it all their own way in this fixture.
Western NSW Mariners vs Parramatta FC, Sunday 17th July 2016, Rangers Park, 3pm
Western NSW Mariners host Parramatta FC as they aim to complete another busy weekend of fixtures for them.
Parramatta FC were amongst the games postponed and are fresh for the trip to Wallerawang and possibly play spoiler.
Kayla Steeden was a rock at the back for the Mariners and added a wonder strike in a good all round display, she will be key once if the home side are to take maximum points.
Last time these two played it was a seven goal thriller and if the game on Sunday is similar it will be good viewing.
