Valentine Sports Park to host Young Matildas squad
A Young Matildas squad consisting of 23 players will descend on Valentine Sports Park for a two-day camp ahead of the 2017 AFC U-19 Women’s qualification period.
Seven members of the squad have been selected from the very competitive PlayStation 4 NPL NSW Women’s competition.
Ante Juric will be coaching the team ahead of qualification matches in October and November that will determine the competing nations for the 2017 AFC U-19 Women’s Championship.
Commencing on Thursday, the camp at Valentine Sports Park presents a perfect platform for the new squad to launch its campaign, with access to state-of-the-art facilities including synthetics fields and turf fields.
Four teams from the PlayStation 4 NPL NSW Women’s competition will be represented. Hannah Bacon and Georgia Plessas have come out of Sydney University SFC, Katelyn Leadbetter from Illawarra Stingrays and Ally Green from Manly United, whilst three squad members represent the Football NSW Institute team.
These include Indigenous star Jada Mathyssen, Eliza Ammendolia and Princess Ibini-Isei the sister of former Hyundai A-League star Bernie Ibini-Isei.
Football NSW is proud to be hosting the talented young squad at the Home of Football and is committed to supporting the future football stars of tomorrow.
